Chris Strachwitz's 91st Birthday - Arhoolie Foundation

The celebration of Chris Strachwitz’s 91st birthday hit a high point last week. Jonathan Clark, longtime mariachi musician and scholar, presented Chris with a rare, black label Peerless recording from the first Mariachi Vargas session in Mexico City in 1937. The session produced two 78s, but Chris had never been able to find this one.
