I think the only reason we’re so disappointed is the hype that was placed on the date before the episode. The way Street and Chris interacted at the beginning while at Mama Pina’s house was something else. There’s chemistry and they care about each other. While Street was a little disappointed she had to cancel on him, he wasn’t visibly devastated by any stretch. He knows why she cancelled and he gets it. He completely respects her. We see the real devastation at the end of the episode when Chris realises what she’s done and perhaps what she’s missing out on. It’s all part of their character development. Also, I personally think she needs to realise how much she wants him before she jumps in. We’re close to Stris, I can feel it!

For crying out loud how long will they drag this on? It’s not even fun anymore. Like either let them be together or set it straight and stop dragging it on. I used to love every stris scene, now I dread them because it’s always the same: Chris takes street for granted and he gets rejected each time he puts himself out there. What will it take for her to realize she’s playing with his feelings and keeping him on the side like that for when SHE wants him isn’t cool. Ughhh so frustrating

Ok, dropping off some thoughts I left on Twt. Mind you, this is simply how * I * am reading the story as of the present. No one is obligated to agree, and I understand the frustration at how slow the slowburn is. Disclaimer over lol. Something I love about Stris? It isn't just the token workplace romance. I love how this dynamic acts as a catalyst for Chris's growth as an individual. The Chris of previous seasons defined herself as a cop and an advocate for women. And for both roles, she's had a laundry list of axioms she's felt pressured to abide by to navigate the overtly masculine world of SWAT and prove she belongs. Somewhere in this quagmire, Chris lost her sense of self, in a manner of speaking, as evident by the tightly-wound, often self-sabotaging woman we've seen throughout this show. Stris challenges Chris to push beyond the boundaries she set for herself. To ask what she wants for herself beyond life as a cop and, as Deacon aptly puts it, "her deep sense of responsibility, and incentivizes her to reach for it, as obscure a path as it is to tread. A few episodes ago, Chris admitted she wanted to leave a legacy like Deacon. A legacy comes in many forms. At the time, I think Deacon believed she meant a professional one. But the dialogue directly associates the term in connection to family. Specifically, Deacon's wife and kids. Subtext indicates that Chris was thinking about the family you create as the legacy she wants to leave behind. That's quite the leap from the woman who once thought it impossible to juggle a SWAT career and a sturdy relationship simultaneously. Not unlike Hondo, whose relationship with Nichelle had led him to confront his intimacy issues resulting from his father abandoning him and has now gently prodded him toward fatherhood where it was never a consideration prior because of his insecurities (also because of his father's abandonment). A legacy such as this wasn't a consideration for the Chris of previous seasons who didn't think she could have it, anyway. Now it is. I'd like to attribute the change to having fallen in love with, arguably, her best friend. (The writers couldn't have given her a better person to fall for, given how primed he is to understand her.) But how can she achieve it without balancing duty to others and the one to herself? Although Chris did a wonderful thing for Marta, the regret on her face at having sacrificed her first dinner date with Street says how much she wanted to put herself first for once. It's so important to her character development in a season where she's growing by leaps and bounds. That regret feels to me like an extension of a thought I said in the comment section, here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXKmZGxtnsmbrtk "As the season progresses, her story transitions to who and what she finds important enough that she is compelled to break the rules. Who is Chris Alonso willing to fight for, at considerable risk to the security she has carefully constructed for herself?" After this episode, it seems to me that the list of people she's willing to fight for will include herself. Breaking her own rules for her own betterment and of others. To give her and Street a chance, yes. But also, as we've seen, a complete reversal of the cold shoulder she first gave Erika out of what she thought was necessity, to a warmer, openly visible kind of support for Cabrera. I love that Deacon petitions Chris to see her worth when she doubts it. It reminds me of Street kindly disagreeing with her when she tells him her birthday's not worth celebrating, that she doesn't deserve the spotlight. Combined with her telling Tan what the team did to help her get through her bereavement over Erika and her paying their kindness forward by supporting Tan through his grief, it reinforces the family 20-squad is. I love it. There's a reason why "Immunity" is among one of my top favorite episodes. Do I think it's a given that Stris isn't happening? Not at all. It's only over when they treat each other with indifference. And that's not what we're seeing. However slow the pace, they're still moving forward. I'm not going to put a timeline on it because I think that's what sets us up for disappointment. As long as I can see that the romance is still in development, I think it will happen. With all these years of being a major, series-long storyline, I do not believe the writers intend to go nowhere with it. Although I'll reevaluate if ever I see that it came to that, we're not there.

You’re so right. The slowburn is slow, but good things are worth waiting for. The character development is really needed before these two move forward. They both have to be in the right place and completely ready if it’s going to work.

What I especially love about Stris is that aspect of personal growth both of them go through and I completely agree that they both had some maturing, opening up and growing to do. Also, I was reading the same thing when Chris spoke to Deacon about legacy. Somehow I think he knew it as well, that's why he gave her the pep talk in this episode, he knows something is up. (This just my observance which is not strictly Stris related. I genuinely like their dynamic) I would like to compliment you, it a beautiful comment, and I can only dream about expressing myself as clearly and fluidly as you. :) (English is not my first language.)

I liked it on twitter too.. I agree but I do feel that a lot of it is focused on just Chris... forgetting there are two people in this relationship. I think they need to show Street in a different stage... this season Street I feel has mostly being a cheerleader for Chris... not sure if it is healthy.

Later the better. I don't mind if they keep coming close or dipping in and out for a night or two then calling it off. But I think it's going to need one of them leaving for some reason to get them together. Chris getting a promotion to a training post or street getting badly hurt so he has to leave SWAT but becomes a private consultant.

I just watched it, and I have to talk it out....., So yes, I am disappointed Chris and Street didn't go out, and that their "date" failed, but what hurt the most was the expression on Street's face when Chris canceled. Also, you could see it on her that she was sad when he sent her that burger photo (anyone else now craving burgers?). I think we can all agree that Chris is awesome, not just as she is., but as she develops as a character. Season 1 Chris would be much more guarded and careful. She refused many Street's attempts, and today she basically said "faq it, I'll go". Not just the Stris aspect, I really like how writers are developing her character. Somehow, I feel Street was understanding, although disappointed. He knew that it was important for her and that she had a good reason for canceling, not just cold feet, and while sad it didn't happen, he has to come to realize who she is as a person, and I think that we will get some proper progress this season, and hopefully, we get a season 6. I loved the little talk Deacon and Chris had in the end of the episode, and I stand by my previous statement, they have one of the best dynamics on the show, just because they disagree on so many things but they both use it as a learning opportunity. The last but not the least, and I can't believe I'm saying this, I liked Hondo in this episode. The moment he steps back from his macho-have-to-save-the-world-strongest-avenger persona, he becomes so much more likable. I am very sorry about Nichelle, I like her character and I like her and Hondo together, so I was hoping this works out for them. But, this gives us an opportunity for a SWAT baby, when Stris baby isn't happening any time soon. (I don't count Deacon, because he started of with 3 I think, so there is no real excitement lol) All in all, really good episode, and I like how it was well rounded, like it wasn't just one character centered, like it can be sometime, the whole team was involved, and I appreciate that. On that note, did anyone else just love the old married quarrel between Hicks and Kaminsky (is that his name?) when Hicks was disarming the bomb? I found it hilarious. I watched the trailer for the next episode, and I am even more convinced something is up with Tan and that he could be the one we are saying farewell in the last episode.

Oh no not Tan!!! I like Tan and Luca cos the cut through the intensity that is Hondo and Chris bring... I was not surprised because Chris has a hero complex.. so unless she creates space for Street he needs to move on. That is not to say that she the cancellation wasn't justified. It just means that saving the world does come at a personal cost.

I lot of fans are upset even the ones who back them. I am not surprised just like you. I hate all crimes against women, traffic, rap, and domestic violence amongst others. I think Chris had a valid reason in how she sought to help the girl. There are times when Chris needs to take the blame and other times is the writer's in this case it was the writer's fault. I also most are tired that stris content is not going anywhere stagnant. I will like to see Chris put herself first and wants happiness for herself. I excuse my language but Chris and street on a date alone or hug and one kiss isn't enough anymore for fans, she sleeps with him, spent night together. Date & sex for stris Many fans feel sorry for Street but he really loves her & thinks she loves too same way but rules things is BS writing. The writers of swat need to set Chris free from the burden they place on her. Everyone wants her to be happy smiling and in love at least for four ep . That has never really happened to Chris in my opinion. Lina said she talk to writers let hope finally listen because they losing fans

Some fans are saying she is leading Street on or that Street looks desperate. So I think it's having the opposite effect.. its becoming less romantic and more forced. I think the writers need to save it because it's becoming a toxic relationship. I actually want Street to move on... I don't think she is leading him on but I don't think she has space in her life for him.. so he will always be second priority. And the cancellation was really weak.. like 8pm for court? Then he txt her and she is on her way out... she could call and say hey save me some I am just leaving work? Like the ending was weak lol...

Chris seems sad and probably didn't remember him until he texted but according Amelia on Twitter today they always had a plan to bring closure to stris part of stories because they have a plan in place and it seems like they working with it and step by step process that`s what I interpret base on what she said but it frustrating to fans at this point. I think writers are clueless to think that plan would not anger the fans because the relationship is not going anywhere in eyes of stris fans. Again all writers talk about closure to stris but they did not have a relationship what hell are they closing about stris, nothing started between them. They have platonic relationship never went no way. I think the writer's plan was to drive fans to dislike relationships because I honestly cannot see them writing her character as they do.

@@keshonrobertson1436 I just got told off on Twitter about not understanding the way the writers are writing this relationship. The writers have written themselves into a corner. Chris is a complex woman who does break rules.. so how do you reconcile that with someone who is in love with her team mate? But I do think they are creating a toxic relationship not a loving relationship. This reminds me of Rollrisi in SVU. Where the guy has to just watch while the girl makes questionable decisions and when she is ready they get together.. only difference was there was no kisses between Rollrisi so no mixed msgs... This season I haven't seen much of a friendship so hard to imagine a romantic relationship at the moment so will be interesting to see how they turn it around. My Opinion the closure will be her saying let's be friends lol

I am driving into what Chris's personality is that the writers have created and that`s why I hate when fans praise her as being a badass. Chris is totally negative about herself and comes from an abused person, she doesn't think she deserves love, even to celebrate her birthday or be happy in a relationship, all other relationships were unhealthy in my opinion. Yes part of her that is dedicated to Job and wants to help others is important but she has a hole in her life that needs fixing that where Street comes in, Street learned how to love from Molly and be in a healthy relationship with Molly but just didn't connect with her to love her like Chris that where his patience and love come from while has never experienced it, that I think he honestly is her saviour to balance her life. I am sorry for Chris if Street gives up on her because she will never know what true love and happiness are. Chris's character at time am so angry with but then I blame writers because her character has lots of flaws that they ignored as writers but blame that she doesn't wants to break rules, ridiculous. I also don't think she leading Street on but you said in a past comment probably trying to figure out her feelings or how to break her rules. I think Street being a second priority is what have a serious problem with because Chris should know by now Street is wroth everything including breaking and people talking her name behind her back etc she has space in her life for him but all of the antics are a distraction to what is her real problems that are why I wanted someone to help her figure things with him but no one knows or her suspect, so how can she get help may mama Pinna. I remember watching redeeming love in the picture just to see the girl get a happy ending. I understand the frustration because I was there a few weeks ago but I am not going to judge harshly because Amelia and Lina explain, so I am more curious to see what is so call stris endgame( closure). I know their own supporting fans on Twitter is going curse them out if is not worthy it
