The Board allowed a huge big whopping TWENTY THREE MILLION pounds to be spent on a huge big whopping TEN duds last season & that ONLY meant adding to the complete deadwood we already had & now also means we NEED to permanently get rid of a huge big whopping FOURTEEN or so pieces of complete deadwood that understandably NOBODY is queuing up in Kerrydale Street desperate to buy ANY of them & so it's going to take at least five or so transfer windows to get rid of them all & so most sadly this ONLY means there won't be a huge amount of buys in this summer transfer window unless real serious ''progress'' is made getting rid of the multiple deadwood sucking the financial life out of Celtic Park.....

Celtic in snooze mode on the transfer front......who'd have thought it? After last season's huge waste of money on project players, you'd have thought they'd have made progress on new arrivals by now. All very well having millions & millions in the bank but it's useless if you don't actually spend it.

@@fishingstevie8830 You seem to think wealth is the sole factor. First of all Celtic have a business model which stops them from building a team because players are brought in on 5 year contracts and if they're good are sold in two for a profit. Therefore you have to keep filling the hopper with the sale level or the squad quality declines as has been shown. Secondly, and crucially every Celtic fan seems to miss the objective fact that Scotland and the Scottish League is not the same draw it used to be. Other leagues have improved in stature and are much more salubrious places to be. How attractive do you think selling away matches to crap stadiums in Dundee and Dingwall is to potential recruits? These guys could go to virtually any league and play against better teams and better players. Scotland has slid down the list of destinations for a player. Imagine you're from Denmark, Spain, Portugal, France etc. You've got a dozen better leagues to pick and dozens of better teams to play for and dozens of better cities to live in.

I have a feeling Celtic might do no business at all until the last 7 days, then just sign all loan players from the elite league teams' of guys who after being assessed at pre-season are told they are not going to feature much in the first team even though they are top players, like Jota, Eduard, CCV, Denayer, Guidetti, Roberts, Frimpong, Elyounoussi, Forster etc all were, or perhaps senior players on frees like Hart or Toure - financial reality is that waiting until the sales at the end is the only way we can afford the better quality players - with 8 Champions League they will be a very attractive option to those kind of players. Hard to see us being able to actually afford anyone early who's an improvement on the players we already have.

@@phm1247 And what players are class at celtic tday ? Havent even replaced Jota and look at many millions club received in that deal . Greed always stays within tight fisted board and owners of the club Why oh why do idiots always keep piling millions into celtic fc via season books and merchandise all time, this when fans know board have no ambition even when at their wealthiest ever ..as they are tday is beyond me . Its just like they take the utter p--s .

@@fishingstevie8830 With Jota they had quite a big initial outlay on him & Benfica kept a high % sign-on clause, so a lot of the profit from the Saudi was owed back to Benfica, so not sure that brought in as much as it looked. McGregor, Hatate & O'Riley is a class midfield - I also like CCV in defence - and I think Maeda is not far off that as his runs are very intelligent & relentless. I like everyone else & think they're good - Taylor, A Johnston, Scales, Palma, Kyogo, Jamesy, M Johnston etc are all international players - all are 'good' & sometimes when you try to buy better you can easily end just having loads of guys all roughly the same level or worse. I would wait & see who is not in the first 25 of the elite clubs & try to get them in on loan for the year. For example, Tierney will likely be available for loan at the end of the window when he recovers from his hammy & guys like that who are out the picture at the big clubs but still excellent players. Buying more projects like Yang, Holm etc who take 2 seasons to settle in, or halfway guys like Barkas, Ajeti etc, is not going to help improve the team. I see your point however re the penny pinching to some extent. Porto, Sporting Lisbon, Benfica, Ajax, & PSV all regularly spend £10+ on players to get higher quality players every year, & we simply just don't do that. How can those clubs with similar turnovers afford that kind of fee & Celtic can't? You'd never know where the money is going either as the annual accounts are so opaque... There are no easy answers to this conundrum!

Excuses do not wash . As for Palma and co Celtic have not replaced Jota at all.. and need a Striker better than who is at Celtic park today ..Also need better as said Cdefender to parter Ccv < --He is ok , but again he wouldnt have made the Celtic teams i mentioned as just ok , but not in class of say from different decades Billy McNeill , Paul Elliot or Johan Mjallby and its them type centre backs id like see at Celtic park today not yon scales guy .and Celtic need better quality within or else out of Europe in no time inc Europa if they were in that comp with this present side .

Never shall be a fan of Rodgers no matter what after his walking out half way through an important season for Leicester and left the club without Celtic at that moment in time having a manager at all when he walked out . Despicable but again you have a tight wad board who have their favs as Rodgers was manager 1st time of asking when Celtic were terrible under him in Europe dont forget and terrible in Europe with Leicester and had Leicester bottom on Epl He then in Europe with Celtic 2nd time had us out of Europe bottom of group with a 6/0 tanking in madrid left for all of EUrope to savour within their minds ..Im not his biggest fan and personally would rather see him out door and someone who has Celtic at heart within club . I also know truth hurts with some but i dont care .
