There's a rubber stop on each side of the boot.. Those are adjustable and you should be able to adjust them to prevent the boot doing exactly that. Hope it helps. 😊

What I like about Chris’ rebuilds (and why everyone should subscribe, like etc.) is that unlike other youtubers you can see that he genuinely pays attention to little things and doesn’t leave bits dirty when putting it back together. He found that bit of plastic and proceeded to vacuum and clean the whole area - that’s what I like to see. A proper detailer’s mark is the attention to detail.

Lolz. I did this whilst adjusting my handbrake cable. Found some dirt beneath the centre console which turned into taking out the seats and clean the entire interior lol

Is there a soft close mechanism on the boot not activating and pulling it fully closed? That’s what it looks like.

Plug in your computer to run a relearn on the boot closing function. Same as you can do on the windows etc.
@jeremyrooks69116 ай бұрын
If the relearn doesn't fix soft close then motor is probably bad. Replace them all the time

Came here to say exactly this. It should pull it tight after the first catch. Sure there’s some sort of cable or something that pulls it tight.

When running in the power steering fluid you’re probably better to start with the wheels in the air so there’s no resistance and it won’t cause any damage
@garryporton84586 ай бұрын
Does the bootlid have a soft close mechanism that maybe isn't working? It might pull it down more once it latches. Just a thought
@BiglumpADV6 ай бұрын
Chris always lift the front wheels off the ground to bleed the steering system. Takes the pressure off of the pump while you rotate the wheels and get the air out. Also make sure you start the process in the straight ahead position, only start turning once the system stops taking fluid as it'll bleed the final air out, and not draw any air in if you keep the fluid level up

Hi Chris, regarding your backdoors.. There could be 2 scenarios. I have a theory: 1.) Soft close (servo is broken) , 2.) During the crash accident the locker got the shock to the mechanism and it caused the move of the beak in the locker.

There’s a secondary soft close motor, check the lower latch section and there will be cable that runs to the side and into a motor. This motor will be seized and once replaced the soft close will activate and shut the boot to fully closed position. Hope this helps Chris.

Great work as always. Boot catch, as others have suggested soft close maybe. Also I had a similar issue on other latches in the past. Some latches have two positions, one to catch and second on be fully closed. Try adjusted the other way (opposite of what you tried in the video) so the latch can reach the second point. Worth a shot. Mark

The fan is a common problem with almost all Mercedes that share that same Module. The problem occurs with having the. Fan mounted directly under the wiper cowell. Hit the underside of it with an open hand once or twice and it should go away. A quick fix, but it will fail in time. Hope this helps!
@Wesows6 ай бұрын
I 2nd the comment about the soft close not fully working its not fully latched hence the movement the lock sapose to engage after the boot lid latch goes into its lock to then fully lock which pulls the boot down

If it's latched and rattling with it being high against the quarters too, the latch mechanism on the body must be too high. The adjustment you did is for front to back if the latch doesn't engage. Yours does, so, although yes, there should be some rubber stops, they should only stop it when it is positively latched in the correct position, so I still say the latch mechanism is too high.

My thoughts are if its had a wack on the rear wing that would put the boot panel out and all you can do is adjust everything the best you can it will never be perfect unless you jig it which should have been done first . Good luck great vid 👍

Latches have 2 stages half closed and closed. When you pulled the anchor in it is now only hitting the half closed. Pull the anchor down a little bit more. That’s if it doesn’t have soft close and that’s not working.

Hello Chris you can certainly adjust the trunk to close perfect . Now about the why, and how it happened, that car had a serious damage, have you thought that the whole car is bended? I mean the pillars were bended, are you sure it didnt pull the whole roof from its original place? Good Luck with the car i love your videos
