Guys instead to use nut and bolt on hole beside when riveting use aerospace cleco, wingnut, or wedgelock. It come with a gun or a plier and have different size. This is the way to work with a lot of riveting closing the gap btw two parts. Like on an aircraft. But the result is incredible. Very well done. I hope everything is straight and will be easy to make wheel alignment !!!! Now what... Upgrade engine ! More powah baby !¡!

Be careful skipping the seam sealer as some is put in weird places due to moisture, dont want her rusting prematurely

Very good point, woulnd't have considered that. Although I imagine painting & clear coating everywhere that porsche didn't do would help seal up most of it?
@user-tu1ee6dc5fАй бұрын
No. You want some of those places with heavy weather sealer esp under the sub frame into the wheel tubs to protect from the rain. Its also a sound deadener plus the bonding.

seam sealer then weather sealer. my bad but if this is a true track car.

Same, wouldn't take much to be a millimetre or two out. Lining up some pop rivet holes, and a couple of wonky tape measurements seems a bit sketchy, but maybe there's only one way it can go with that many holes to line up.
@jakerade1Ай бұрын
normally you would put the subframe on.

@@paulchapman1699 those are not normal pop rivets - they are like £2 each and are a complete bstard to remove. Probably stronger than the originals

You could do with some cavity wax on some of those areas to keep out condensation and water in and around the tub. Bilt Hamber Dynax SC50 is a perfect product for the area's you cant see and use Bilt Hamber Dynax UC for the areas you might be able to see as its a clear wax unlike SC50 which is caramel coloured. Its great stuff even if you're car is mint, a great idea to keep out the dreaded rust worm and road salts over winter. Way better then Lanogaurd junk, in my opinion. 😊

Its too late now but next time rent some time on a frame jig for the final fit and fix… it only takes a little bit off to effect everything badly… suspension misalignment, panel gap problems etc.
@autodallee4527Ай бұрын
Definitely, especially as the left footwell is still buckled and whacking the new front end back to align with what could possibly not be in the right place. You have to look closely as the camera passes across the footwell area quickly. Not applying seam sealant in the correct places and the tin of sealer being used evaporates down to nothing is also not OEM repair procedure. Then the fully painting of the front end. The list is endless

With the clear coat for the first coat do a very light coat. This then acts as a "tack coat" making the surface tacky. Which means you can go heavy on the next coat with less chance of runs.
