Chris Bernotas ,, I am a senior citizen and just started playing violin again after a 43 year absence. I used to play in 5th through 9th grade. I now play in a senior community orchestra and we just played your song “a Hanukkah Festival” at our holiday concert. I love this song! Enjoyed playing it very much!

Thank God we had a clarinet who could play that cadenza, very beautiful solo. It was a senior who has been playing clarinet since 6th grade. We finished our show with this piece about an hour and a half ago

my high school band was just given this piece yesterday to perform tomorrow.. we have done major sight reading.. but i have to say, we practically got it down the second day, but we are a high leveled high school band, so it was pretty easy compared to the other music we have to practice for your competitions which are level 4-5 pieces

when we play sevion my band director keeps saying alto saxes and french horns play louder. but there's only three saxophones and 2 french horns so compred to the 27 flutes and clarinets not even including the brass whos playing louder than us and its just ridiculous how loud we have to play to be heard. then in hanukkah when the saxophones have the sixteenth notes we just kinda stop playing and look at him with a derp face

A Met Opera bass player told me a story when a conductor wanted a horn to play louder, and he was trying to play as loud as he can; the orchestra people knew that the conductor was talking talking to them not the horn player.

I am still trying to grasp what is going on in this piece. It sounds almost like a symphonic short story.
@mrmusicverse8 жыл бұрын
I was just handed this piece only yesterday evening at my community band rehearsal; I am completely unfamiliar with this piece. I know that Hannukah is the festival of lights, but I had no idea there was a tune to signify it. None of the 3 tunes featured in this selection don't even sound REMOTELY traditional to me, but maybe that is because I am more inclined to play popular concert tunes. I don't know what to make of this, to be perfectly honest.
