I spent 15 years coaching people for free via the preflight email list only to produce maybe 10-15 people flying their birds. By taking my students through my 12-14 hour Skype freeflight training course ($300) they get a much more complete picture of the process, resulting in far more people actually flying their birds. If you were to survey the people you see flying their birds on youtube or Facebook, you'd find that most of the more well known people got their start via my course.

I had no doubt that Thor would return. And in the off chance he did not, because I selected a location for this stage of training that was wide open in all directions, I could see and follow him wherever he went.

Mostly I use peanuts halves out of the shell. For my sun conures I use mostly sunflower seeds.

Well, I don't "just suddenly go flying outside." There is a very carefully thought out systematic process I take them through to get them ready for that first flight and then for each step in their flight skill progression.
