Their music isnt that bad now. They should definitely get back together and forget their egos for a change. Deron wont ever make a band that will sound like CKY. The stuff CKY put out a few years ago still sounded like CKY. Its just the guitar player thats singer now isnt a great frontman. He's a decent singer and a killer guitar player, but to be a front man you need that IT. Deron has it.

I won't even pretend to know the story of cKy's breakup, but Deron WAS cKy. How can you keep the band going under that name when you could just as easily name yourself something else and still play cKy songs here and there? Because no one's coming to watch that, that's why. I would not be surprised at all if most people who pay to see cKy didn't even know Deron isn't in the band anymore.

I saw CKY in Dallas a good while back. This was actually right around the time Michael Jackson passed. I remember two things specifically about that show: 1. Ape and Phil showed up in a Blue Taxi and sat in the balcony by themselves and watched the entire show. Deron even tried getting Ape on stage for Close Yet Far. 2. Deron belted out one of the most badass rock covers of Beat It in an incredible nod to the King of Pop. It was, to this day, one of my top 3 best concerts / most rememberable shows that I've been to. I was always a fan, but as a musician myself, that show was when I realized the pipes and musical talent that Deron has. Dude is amazing, and I would agree, that band is NOTHING without him.

Deron's new band 96bitterbeings is absolutely amazing and so much better than what CKY is now check out Derons new album with them calle 'Camp Pain' it's awesome and they're releasing another album sometime relatively soon called Synergy Restored and from what I've gathered it's going to be Derons best work and if you liked CKY you'll love Derons new music with 96bitter beings cause CKY was just deron without the new musicians hes with now who are much better than Chad and Jess by a long shot

Sometimes when bad things happen, it's to lead us down the path of the good things to come. If people have to bring you down in an attempt to bring themselves up, their inability will eventually come to light. It sounds like they were threatened by his abilities so he is better off without them. When people try to bring someone down or sabotage others, I just smile knowing that there is always KARMA. They are determining there own future fate. Awesome interview.

CKY aren't the same without Deron. Don't get me wrong, their new stuff, there's two good songs, Replaceable and Head For a Breakdown, but that's it. 96 Bitter Beings are more CKY than CKY.

I was under the impression that his substance abuse issues were part of why he left, I thought I remember reading that years and years ago. If so I wouldn't be ashamed of that and try to down play it. I'm an alcoholic though I've been sober for 9 years, and have a lot of respect and compassion for other addicts who can turn it around. If that wasn't the case for him leaving, well, guess I misunderstood the situation.

"Most of the times you weren't even in the mix and you didn't even know it" - haha! I remember having to re-record some other members' parts in my old band -- sometimes it was for the entire song, lol. Writing all of the material and doing almost all the work is just crushing -- and then to have people go behind your band and steal what you built -- that's too toxic. I'm happy Deron moved on and found an amazing team to work with! Thanks for the great interview -- and I hope he'll keep things rolling!

if he said all those things about how he's the best guitar player, writer and singer for a band he was hired to join, he'd sound like an absolute arsehole, but he started that band, it was his baby. the records are basically just deron and jess on drums with some bass in the mix. fair play to him, looking forward to new music!!

Great interview but a lot of it is Deron twisting the truth to make himself look innocent of any wrong doing. Would love to hear the other side of the story.
@oneox9584 жыл бұрын
well, you claim he's twisting the truth, and in the next sentence wonder what the other side of it is....so thats kinda...eh. But if it's true that they had to take Chad out of the mix, then the writing is on the wall; nothing you can do at that point cuz the timer is ticking.
@Stator7203 жыл бұрын
The other side of it unfortunately is what happened in that final 2011 show. (disclaimer, big Deron fan and CKY without is not CKY) Saying he was kicked out for no reason though is a bit unfair on the other guys. He was off his face drunk in that 2011 show and could barely play - didn't for a few songs just sang. It's so awkward and you can see how embarrassed the others are. 10 years ago though and we've thankfully all moved on..

Great interview, Chris. As always you bring a hot dish to your channel! This video/ interview brings back a lot of memories. From 1993-1997 I was the leader (composer, arranger and piano player) of the second oldest band in Cuba (13 musicians), and as we were desperately trying to leave the country for obvious reasons, the amount of discrepancies, arguments, you name it, were daily increasing. I guess it comes with fame. In November 1997 I went to Canada. Shortly after that the band got apart and everyone went their way. It’s a complex situation, I guess it’s something that has to do with human ego. I’m happy this good singer and guitar player found his way. Thanks for sharing Chris. Keep rocking my friend 👊🔥👊

Hello Chris, sitting here and enjoying your effortless conversation...this interview... and other than probably most listeners ;)) trying to learn from your skills. You are a really good listener. It shows big time.. I like that you jump right into it here with " I never wanted to quit that band"... and then you get the best out of him right away... where Deron is talking all free and in most honesty about Australia. Also like the ending and him saying how much he loves to give it loads. :) Best, Sunshine

Deron was a huge part of CKY the band AND the movies. It amazes me that Bam or Frantz or whoever would just take that away from him. I just watched all the CKY's the other day and I never realized before how many times he's shown being the cameraman, doing stunts, etc.

I was at the final CkY show with Deron as the frontman. I still had a great time but you knew it was the end. Especially when me and my friend approached him after the show and while he was signing my friends shirt he said idk why I’m even doing this anymore. I originally thought it was about his guitar being sold. I told Chad I have the same guitar and with the same vinyl sticker on it in the same place and I’d let Deron use it for the shows. He said I should’ve brought it with me that night. So I guess that was both of them saying it’s over

It’s funny how we can tell who the brains were behind some bands just by listening the sound and techniques between the music created then and now. It definitely does suck that Deron isn’t in CKY but at the same time glad to see that he reformed himself and surrounded with better musicians. If any of you seen the profile on Spotify it’s honestly hilarious that CKY’s Chad Ginsburg thinks that the frontman position Is rightfully his. Lol They released what I guess would be called like a greatest hits album and they pretty much recreated the popular songs with Ginsburg being the lead vocalist. Talk about slapping Deron in the face.
