And majority of them get denied, then we usually get cases of families trying to sue because police didn’t do anything till the victim has been m*rdered. As a Christian, I'm all for forgiveness but if someone victimizes me and has broken the law of the land they will face the consequences and I will be pressing charges. We have the law and we are meant to follow it. Christians need to understand that although we are said to be part of the body of Christ we are not Christ only he can save. I think the focus that Black religious people place on God in response to trauma is historically & presently based on 1) a way to prevent one’s self from retaliating in unhealthy ways, & 2) a recognition that most of us will not receive any form of “justice” as we see fit. So, I think it provides a coping mechanism for many. Your point about whether it is a healthy form of processing is a fair question, & I would agree that if the processing stops at religious recitations, it probably is not an effective way to process trauma. However, I think it is a more healthy form of coping than many alternatives. And, I think a healthy & productive way to respond to folks who cope this way is to encourage them to develop additional strategies for processing trauma, if they don’t already have some.

I’ve experienced a lot too but I don’t go around dismembering people’s faces and knocking their teeth out of their mouth because I feel slighted… Chrisean needs to go to jail!!! What is she going to do when her child pisses her off? Throw the baby across the room? And people won’t bat an eye because ‘ She’s been through so much, she’s had so much trauma ‘ 🤦🏾‍♀️

Thisss! She wouldn't be alive today if she'd gone through what I went through, but I'm not out here putting my hands on people nor am I acting a fool. People act like her trauma is the worst ever and yet forget there are 100s of 1000s and more people who've gone through some really tough stuff in our lives and yet our names are squeaky clean and we know how to act.

Honestly, the whole Chrisean situation is a mess. Now I do believe she should be reprimanded for putting her hands on someone. But, I do believe she was led to believe she was going to be performing. Hence, them giving her a mic, dj sky setting up, and tamar asking her "what song was she going to perform". All in all, it's just a mess.
