Unrelated/Related : FD has to make sure the judges can’t hear the commentators while judging is going on. The commentators go off on wild tangents and theories IMMEDIATELY without all the cameras and knowledge to fill dead air and studies have proven that even if you’re aware of a potential bias, hearing people say a thing as true influences your own opinion of a matter. The judges need to be isolated from their dumb ramblings until a decision is made.

Commentators are bad in FD, I watch Drift Masters and its 1000% better. FD commentating is getting very annoying, one sounds like there a frog stuck in his throat, and the other is a shout out whore.

@max_coast if I'm not mistaken at STL the judges are in a different booth as FD uses the NASCAR media tower for coms, judging, and spotters. I agree with you 100% however certain tracks it's nearly impossible to have judges completely separated from coms with out just putting them in a trailer only viewing cameras.

Hi watched it live and now the replay, i think: you make 2 mistakes on the lead 1) OZ1 wall hit makes the car upset a little 2) OZ4 your line is not smooth, your starting deep than going inside and again going out which makes very hard to chase . Matt's lead is very clean. If you compare the chases they are very similar, I can say you had more opportunities to increase proximity. My decision will be %60 win for Matt, could be OMT maybe. It's my opinion of course, I hope it helps.

I wrote a pretty detailed comment under his spotter Nate Hamilton's video and this is what it comes down for me as well. Lead to lead Matt takes the win and chase to chase it's equal because Matt's mistakes can be brought back to Chris' mistakes in the lead.

@tinyrisu5966 3 ай бұрын
@@driftingmajix also Fors left oz4 after like 1/3rd and that cut into Field's line making him impossible to actually follow someone who isnt in the correct line leading to Field straighten. Lead wise, Matt was deeper in OZ3 and 4. You were equal in OZ1 but you hit the wall and it effected line. Depth wise, you were equal in OZ2. Except Matt was fluid entering and you didnt fire off until you were two car lengths into OZ2. Matt could of held better proximity the rest od thw run if he was choked up. IMO, Matt won all the OZs in the lead. So his one mistake was OZ4 in the chase. Lead vs lead, chase vs chase. Good leads make for good chases.

This is one of those rare instances where I agree with the judges on a controversial call. Chris did hit OZ1 after initiation. He also entered OZ4 shallow then actually came out of the zone towards its middle section and got back into the zone in the last part of OZ4 but was still barely in it. In my opinion, this caused Field to bobble in the chase as you can see Field enter OZ4 on a near perfect line but had to correct to take a shallow line to chase Chris which made him bobble. Field also did have a much better Lead. So I think I agree with the judges in that battle but great showing for both drivers.

It has been an issue with FD for a few years where judges make call's that are hard to understand, both from a viewer standpoint and as we hear from a driver standpoint. I would love to see a call back from what Matt did wrong, but what I saw was the wall hit in OZ 1 was kinda hard and pushed the car out of the zone and made the transition to OZ 2 a bit off. I really DO NOT get why a track values grass safety over driver safety, If they had the flat barriers like long beach I don't think we would see as much of an issue as the jersey barriers with a ramp. Not only that, but I also think the perpendicular wall at OZ 2 should have been reworked a bit and the last bit of OZ 4 made the end of the battle so awkward, the turn narrows so bad it feels like cars can't fit and didn't look like anyone had a real good way of making it look good. I'm not sure FD should come back after seeing some of this stuff.

Matt wins lead by Lead 100% And maybe your chase was better but hitting the wall in 1st zone actualy made matt look like he was the one that went too deep, but looking at replay you bounced off the wall and changed your line. And similar situation on last zone, in the middle your line completely changes making matt look really bad. I was there watching it in person and i thought matt had a terrible chase but i see now why it looked so bad. So i guess judges went with you throwing him off in two zones at least in the last zone

Trust me, nobody knows what the judges are looking for, including the judges. What makes it even worse is the announcinh.. When i watch DMC, the judges explain it to the drivers, are very consistent in their calls, and the announcing is top tier in all of sports. When is a fair playing field, doesn't matter who the driver is, and the excitement, it just makes FD seem like a dinosaur. It's almost depressing when you spot differences. I say overhaul all of FD, make it new again and exciting to watch

Mat's run is nice and smooth, also last zone you almost stopped while sitting half of the zone on the handbreak, hence Mat had to slam into you. Also Zone 1, that kiss the wall was too much, you had to adjust your car and I think that was biggest mistake.

Fair call by the judges... CF is missing the fact that he had a bobble in OZ4 that's why MF had to check up which ruined his momentum and made him run shallow. Very typical for CF mistake, if you watch other cars in OZ4 they way less of a delay between slow down and acceleration. idk why Chris sleeps on the gas, may because he dropped wheels in practice and was trying not run wide. Other drivers expect him to step on it after slowing down, but Chris coasts for second. In terms of lead, Chris hit the wall and cut the line after that, a big no no, judges said they don't want to see that in the driver's meeting. Spotter should have cleared that call, and inform the driver. Anyhow, just an opinion.

I watch FD from time to time but I just cannot be a true fan or fully get behind it because the judging has always been very inconsistent. FD has been going on for multiple decades and the rules are still ever changing. The fact that they have not invested into in-car camera's is weird to me. The light strips on the windshields are 100% useless, laggy, delayed. They need to invest in in-car camera's. One watching the driver / steerings and once watching the pedal box. Would give you a sure fire answer to 9 out of the 10 questions they have instead of guessing from aerial views.

Well we all saw the results of those k-rails with Adam. Up and almost over. FD needs to have an actual ex driver design the courses, not a freshman. FD seems to be very inconsiderate of the drivers opinions and views, despite the fact that without them, there would be nothing. It's a shame. A unified driver's protest is a good idea, it may wake up the necessary personalities a little. Unfortunately money and sponsors seem to be pushing things in their own direction, instead of being a family.

Matt's lead was a lot cleaner and they seemed to reward leads a lot more now. Obviously there was the OZ1 wall that kind of threw off your line and pushed you away from matt. I think the spot that gave matt the win was OZ4. You entered well, but ended up leaving the zone late and then the handbrake pull at the end probably also deducted some points, especially since it caused matt to angle up more.

I really haven't been watching long enough to be able to judge for watching on line , BUT. It seems like you are shooting at a moving target. Some of these calls get FD major hate. Maybe they need to give you guys exactly what their looking for in writing and stop moving the finish line. At least for us listening/ watching I'm hearing to much about who is a championship contender and not who can win the round? I'm afraid that is part of the judging formula, not who is cleanest or fastest. Glad you came home with a whole car at least. Really dumb to use that type of wall construction, really careless of FD not taking care of Ya'll

while i dont like fd judges, your battle wasn't controversial! the way they do lead vs lead is infuriating but its the way they judge.. so to be recognized you have to drive harder unfortunately :(

I know were not supposed to comment things like this, but Matt Field is the most overrated driver. He essentially is guaranteed a win by the judges unless he messes up. Even the fans know it at this point, its become a joke.

i love you to death chris, but after your contact with the wall in oz1 it caused you to transition late into oz2. in my opinion lead for lead matts was a bit better which allowed him to get the win.

maybe its click bait but I don't understand why you said controversial calls. you hit the wall on matts lead and it fkd up the rest of your run. He had a very smooth and consistent lead and gave you all the opportunity to door him and the only corner you did so was oz4. def lost bruh.

@chrisforsbergracing I think, in general, drivers need to understand what the judges want and hit those marks. At this level, there shouldn't be a debate on what you guys can and can't do. Some of you have been driving for 20+ years. The skill gap shouldn't be as big as it is. Back to the main topic. It sounds like you're saying that the judges are asking for one thing, and changing their thoughts a mid battle? If that's true. And it may very well be. Then drivers need to come together to make something happen about it. I will grant you that ALOT of drivers have been coming out with videos about how the judges are inconsistent. However, are drivers doing exactly as asked. I've seen teams go up to the box throughout the day just to check up on if they're driving the judges expect.

Dude that’s the part that Adam doesn’t show him rushing to get the first practice is. I watched this live Matt did not win that not at all his chase was terrible and an almost spin at the end of anything omt like field is a the judges boy and it’s hard to beat the judges boy

watch it again and actually look at forsbergs rear wheel, it tells the entire story of oz4. Chris was already coming into oz4 with the barely any momentum (hence why he came up short) and then he modulated throttle and handbraked because he wanted to be deeper into the zone but he didn't have nearly enough momentum to actually push the car wide so all it did was stall Field up.

@@transient442 but that doesn’t matter the chase driver has to mimic the lead driver we saw this issue in road Atlanta a lot of the rule states the way it states Matt field should be at fault for a spin and trying to make up ground on Chris.

@@nickdoescher9957 This is not how that rule actually works. That only applies when the lead driver is following the expected criteria. If the lead car deviates from that and the chase car has a mistake that can be directly linked to the error of the lead car, Its always going to be blamed on the lead car. This is how the rules work. You can't just do what ever you want in lead and be like "hE wAs sUpPoSeD tO miMic mE bRo" This is a backwards understanding of that rule.

@@transient442 but he didn’t do whatever he wanted he was shallow in the zone sure but he didn’t stop drift or make a huge mistake causing an issue hence my original statement stands true field should have mimicked Chris and he didn’t he surged and almost caused a wreck and spun that’s on fields.
@transient442

@@nickdoescher9957 Chris was not on throttle past the decel zone, he pulled handbrake past the decel zone, He lifted past the decel zone. What you need to understand about this level of drifting is micro errors like that will and do cause major issues for an unsuspecting chase car and when a car surges that quickly it's generally not a result of the car magically gaining a bunch of speed, its because the lead car slowed or failed to get back on throttle in an area where they were supposed to be carrying momentum. This is precisely why the judges are so hard on drivers for their momentum outside of decel zones.

I think you won. Matt had a decent mistake in chase on last turn. Your only decent mistake was the wall tap in 1. Your chase was amazing through 4. So I think you won. Sorry bro. At least it’s not as bad as what happened to Adam a few rounds ago.

Have you looked at the line Chris took at OZ4? He was in it at the beginning but he angled up way too much, got out of it and had to do a correction to get back into it towards the end. What Matt did was react to it because he expected Chris to have such a trajectory that fills the enitre zone and not only the first and the last bit
