Fooled me! I'm really enjoying this show, it's very unique in that's it's so positive no matter what the outcome. Unlike talent shows which are degrading to people, Penn + Teller are always very positive and encouraging no matter if they know how it's done or not, and that just makes the show that much more enjoyable to watch!

That's because Penn and Teller judging other magicians is only a hook not the premise of the show which is to invite the best magicians to perform the best tricks for the whole world to see. Winning the trophy is really just a cherry on the top.

I really miss this show. was some amazing entertainment. It wasn't like "American Idol" or any of the billions of copy shows. It was always the best of the best magicians in the world going against Penn and Teller. No such thing as a bad act on this show, just whether they got the FU or not. Penn and Teller are just awesome. between their own act (which I saw in vegas a few times), the show bullsh*it, and this show...... i can't believe they never seem to last on television, yet considering that even the top magiciansin the world worship them, for good reason, god just love them. 40 years in the biz and still top of the charts of magicians. Beautiful thing about them is that they encourage the newcomers to expand on magic (classical and also shock) rather than copy anything. And Chris Funk's performance was a+++, just another reason why this show should have lasted more than 2 years...... no such thing as a bad "act' on this show, no simon cowell saying "you suck". just people going wow that's awesome (even us amature magicians that know a lot of these tricks still admired how smoothly these people pulled it off even if we knew what they did).

Poor Lexi! Cool trick though. People are always bitching about magic happening where you can't see it so it's not as special, so you literally let people see the card rise (although personally I liked the first one the best). I liked the card stuff, and the violin & case was very cool, but the best part was the humor. It was a very funny routine and if I paid to see someone that wasn't a Shim Lim type, I'd want it to be someone who really made me laugh like that.

Loved the card trick. I am not a magician but had a dream of a neat card trick. If somebody could pull it off would be a great card trick I think. Thanks for sharing
@suoppsdn97518 жыл бұрын
You have a briefcase with a CNC Machine inside that lowers when the lid is closed and can be controlled by a cellphone. You tell somebody you have wrote down a prediction in the briefcase. Then you tell the to take a number of cards and lay them out on the table. As they pick the card you send the signal to the CNC machine inside the briefcase until they have chosen a number of cards. You can either secretly control the CNC machine with your cellphone or have an assistance to send the signals to the CNC machine so it can write down all the cards that was picked. The hardest part of this is creating the CNC machine so it automatically hides when the lid is open and automatically comedown out of hiding when the lid is closed.

I was blown away by this, legitimately. Every piece of it had me oggling. But at the same time it was obvious that nothing he was doing was HIS creation. How do you expect to fool Penn and Teller with standard tricks, no matter how well executed?

@demran8 жыл бұрын
+Chris Funk Let's just say choreography was all yours, and very cool as well, but the tricks weren't. And ultimately it is the tricks that can or can not fool Penn and Teller.
@chrisfunkmagic8 жыл бұрын
+demran unfortunately, there is more to TV magic than most people know. What you see on tv is chosen by producers. Not the Magicians. I'm glad you liked the choreography. That is usually my focus. Not the 30 second payoff as most magicians are doing this day and age. I've fooled them before. Check my other videos for that. I just wanted to entertain them. And perform my favourite routine. Fooling or not. I know they truly appreciated it.
@demran8 жыл бұрын
Chris Funk Oh well, the choreography was fantastic. And the tricks you have chosen were most definitely some of the more "supernatural" feeling tricks out there, therefore really a delight to the eyes. And to be fair if you were actually disappearing stuff, and flying cards without any tricks, you wouldn't be there, you would probably be known as the next Messiah with your own new Religion lol :) I think what Shaidyn meant was though, for the soul purpose of Fooling them, one must come up with their own trick from scratch, that no one else knows, which is extremely difficult of course.

This one seems very simple. The vibration of violin strings is very powerful and the glass acts as an amplifier. He had some little piece of rubber or something at max tensile strength just on the edge of releasing. And the vibration from the violin causes it to rise. You can do this yourself at home with a rubber band. He proves this when he puts the deck of the edge of the violin and plucky the string. A few seconds later the card rises as the rubber band releases. You can see the delay caused by the rubber.
