I'm just gonna say it. I've always liked Aerith more than Tifa. I've always thought Aerith was more beautiful than Tifa as well. Tifa may have the better body and I know she's more than that but I like Aerith way more than her. The part of the remake where it's just Cloud and Aerith in the party is my favorite because of all the cute/awkward interactions between the two. That said, Aerith is my favorite girl in the remake followed by Jesse, then Tifa.

Didn't surprise me in the least. It's actually seemed more realistic considering that her 1st interaction with Cloud after he woke up was to show him her red flag. "I would like to buy your talents with sex, Cloud." Her later action of "mine," fits perfectly in line with what came before it. Aerith trying to buy Cloud with a date is what really needed changing. Any likeable personality that she shows afterwards is completely overshadowed by the red flag and prevents me from finding any enjoyment from her character. They fucked her character from the word "go."

In the Remake, if you choose to have Cloud say to the hotel doorman in the Wallmarket that you want to take Aerith in (suggesting sex), Aerith immediately scolds Cloud. She wouldn’t have done that if sex was what she was after. If you’re talking about the OG, then it’s important to consider the audience (Japanese) and the time period (late 90s) and what dating means in that context. Hookup culture and equating dating to sex is a relatively new phenomenon and also a fairly western concept so it wouldn’t have been what the developers meant in Aerith’s case back then.
