Feb 2021- Some people have asked why I have been leaving trail and summit names out of many of my recent videos. This decision came due to issues with what I would consider uneducated hiker behavior during the 2020 hiking season. The most notable of which was trash, and human waste / toilet paper I had been finding directly on or next to the trail. With the pandemic hitting a lot of people took to the outdoors for escape and I certainly cannot blame them. In fact, I encourage it. However, it appears many of these people did no research on common outdoors etiquette or how we should treat the trails and outdoor areas that we and others regularly frequent for recreation and escape. If you are using this video for planning purposes and are a newer hiker please watch this video before heading out on trail. This video is me explaining some of the etiquette around hiking and camping that I wish others had shared with me when I started getting outdoors: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpnHaHhqp6x8raM And please familiarize yourself with the principals of leave no trace lnt.org/why/7-principles/ www.nps.gov/articles/leave-no-trace-seven-principles.htm Here is an article about the issue with trash and human waste specifically in the Whites www.nhpr.org/post/trouble-trails-forest-service-grapples-crowds-trash-and-human-waste#stream/0 Another article about Max Patch (an iconic part of the Appalachian Trail) and the issues occurring there www.citizen-times.com/story/news/local/2020/09/23/max-patch-residents-campers-creating-safety-hazards-mountain/5858936002/

Man, green is definitely the word for this video. So many different shades. Beautiful! Where was that you were camping and why were there pre-marked tent sites?
@ChrisGoesOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Its a small dedicated campsite just off trail. There were 4 tent platforms at this site. The idea being to minimize ground disturbance I believe. There was also a pit toilet at this location. This area was crazy green! it was fantastic!

@ChrisGoesOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
I have a Moosilauke video from years ago during the spring but it was winter like conditions, also one from when I was up there while hiking the AT so probably not going back that route for a bit haha. Hoping to revisit many of the 48 though. I feel like I've learned so much on the video side of things since then that I need to pay them all a revisit

@@ChrisGoesOutdoors You're videos are A+ quality. I followed IBTAT from the beginning. His videos are top notch and seamless. Lots of walking by the camera. The right amount of hiking and the right amount of commentary. I cant wait for the Autumn to get up to Maine and do some hiking. I live in RI so its not too far. I'll definitely look up your AT videos. Stay safe out there and happy trails. Thanks for responding

Hey, if you can give me an idea of location it would be great. I understand during Covid a lots of uneducated (I call them stupid and lazy) people got out and destroyed a lot of trails but I'm not one of them. I live in Massachusetts and when I was hiking during those times a lot of NH people ask me if I knew what I was doing and ask me to take care of the trails.Also when I went to Cutler Maine to hike the Bold Coast I also noticed the laziness of these people litter and I picked up their trash. When I went to NY there was 2 places that were peaceful but this time I went back places were closed and law Enforcement were there to stop all the fighting. I got into hiking at age 50 when I started watching your videos and I appreciate the time and effort you put into them. Keep doing it please!
@steveandrews22154 жыл бұрын
Chris, you have so many small videos to edit together!.. How many hours does that take you? You are not pretentious, and that is perfection in videography as far as I am concerned... Keep it up.
@ChrisGoesOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Ya I think I finished this hike with like 250 individual clips haha. This one took me probably 5 hours to edit, make the thumbnail, and write the. Idea description. Not too bad. I feel like the worst part is actually finding music that fits what I’m going for. Appreciate you watching!

@ChrisGoesOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Ya they are a concern but I have seen very few ticks ever in my hiking up here. I permethrin all my clothing but I didn't prepare for the level of overgrowth on this trail. Would have worn higher socks had I thought about it. I did multiple tick checks throughout the day and was spraying OFF deep woods spray pretty regularly so I have to imagine that helped

ChrisGoesOutdoors keep it then and use it when you want to. I picked one up off of reddit about a month or so ago. I haven’t used it yet except one night in the backyard.
@ChrisGoesOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Ya I actually debated selling the one I got. Apparently Zpacks is no longer offering stuff in camo anymore too. I noticed on this trip my solplex needs some serious cuben repair tape where the trekking pole cups are. Getting all sorts of small pin prick holes so going to have to get around to that. Luckily when I ordered my altaplex I ordered a bunch of huge patches for the solplex. I guess I kind of just want to use that thing until it turns into more tape than tent 😂
