A lot of people have been asking about trail names, and peaks names and why I have not been mentioning them in videos lately. I have addressed this in some previous videos but I will copy and paste from another comment. I hope you all understand. "I have been purposefully leaving the names of the peaks and trails I have been taking out of the videos lately. I didn't / don't want my videos to possibly contribute to the overcrowding and literal trashing of the trails thats been occurring lately. With everyone trying to escape outside since covid it appears nobody did research on the basic principals of hiking / backpacking or the principals of Leave No Trace. If they did then they just don't seem to care. The amount of toilet paper, feces, and trash I have seen literally on or next to the trail in the last couple weeks is absolutely mind boggling. I am hoping to the add the names to the trails and peaks back in eventually hopefully once things kind of settle down up there a bit. I know a lot of people use the videos to plan their adventures. I did the same when I started hiking up in the Whites. Its part of the reason I started this channel. With that said, I have a video up in some way shape or form for I believe every 48 4k and 52 wav peak. Some maybe in my AT series, and also my Pemi Loop series" Here is an article about the issue www.nhpr.org/post/trouble-trails-forest-service-grapples-crowds-trash-and-human-waste#stream/0 Here you can learn about leave no trace (LNT) principals lnt.org/why/7-principles/

Hey Chris.... Thanks for sharing yet another great video adventure. You are spot on about the challenges of people not understanding the fundamentals about "Leave no Trace". Thats pretty much what I've been doing. I spent 5 hours on top of the actual summit. Maybe even longer. I did the New Hampshire 48 4ks and the 52 with a view list. At this point now its more about just going back and really taking it all in. Been greatly enjoying these dark hiking periods too. Its so quiet besides me gasping for air on them inclines haha

I've been making an effort to hike the less traveled trails, but even they are littered. I don't understand how someone would think it's ok to leave their trash behind. My favorite are the dog poop bags. I mean, thanks for packing it in that nice purple bag, but DON'T LEAVE IT THERE, YOU DOPE!

Thanks! I have been really happy with the shots and videos lately. I think sitting in a room for a couple months got me really wanting to film great stuff again haha. The Whites the last couple weeks are starting to look like the blue hills. I film some of the gear videos and random videos down around the ponds behind the skating rink. Within like a 1/8 mile stretch I can usually count 10-12 of those bags tossed along the side of the trail. Like 🤷🏼‍♂️ I genuinely don't understand people. Which probably explains why I prefer to be away from them hiking in the dark at 2am haha

Greatly appreciate this Gerald. Some of it is the camera, like that low light star shot I took probably would have looked like mud on the Panasnoic GH5 I was using previously. I have shot other videos with the a7iii previously but I'd say a significant amount of the difference is the time I have been taking to get the shots and just putting everything I have learned over the years in regards to cameras and filming to use I definitely think the videos I have been creating since my return to hiking post quarantine period are the best videos I have made. I think being away for a bit pushed me a little more on the creative side too

I have been purposefully leaving the names of the peaks and trails I have been taking out of the videos lately. Pretty sure this one took like 6 hours or so. Most of it is just finding the right music. I also have a terrible attention span during the editing process so I am constantly doing other things like watching other videos or surfing the web. I feel like it helps though as it gives little breaks and then I can go back and rewatch what I did previously and see how it flows 🤷🏼‍♂️

Thank you for the beautiful video. The unique summit, a favorite of mine. When you night hike do you choose trails you’ve been up before? Do you worry about getting off trail? I think I saw another person at the summit, how often do you encounter other people? Do you carry extra lighting?

Don't particularly choose ones I have been up before. The Presidential video a couple weeks ago I have never gone up that trail before. I had been to the summit of the mountain but took a different route previously. This trail I had been up before but it was more just easy and quick to drive to haha No real worry about getting off trail. Did a pretty large amount of night hiking near the end of the AT when the days were getting shorter so I feel pretty comfortable out there in that regard. Have GPS on my phone and a map / compass with me too so Saw nobody on this trail until the actual summit. Lot of trail runners out that early. That presidential trip too I saw one other guy on trail in the AM and then a handful at the summit. Trails definitely get crowded though as the day goes on No extra lighting, just my headlamp. Cellphone could suffice for a bit but I have my external battery that can charge my headlamp so not really too concerned. If I keep up the night hiking stuff I may end up taking a second headlamp at some point

Sorry to here that people don’t understand the no trace rules. I learned that when I was 10 years old. I through it was just common sense. Of course it was the 50’s and early 60’s. No wonder the water we always drank is not save anymore.

As I have found out in my short 30 something years of living, common sense is really not all that common
