@chris gorges I want to thank you and ALL creators who put out ASL info and signs. I'm a single mother and I homeschool my two youngest kids. I've told them that in the age of the internet, you can find resources to learn ANYTHING right at your fingertips. I want them to learn how to learn more than anything. I have a bit of experience with ASL so when they told me they wanted to learn sign language we ran with it. I've found the info about sentence structure and techniques very useful to teach but MOST useful have been videos like this. We try to use signing all day so we are CONSTANTLY looking up odd words and I am SO PROUD of what they have learned. Two weeks in and we can sign most of our basic, daily phrases and answers. They are learning very quickly because of videos like yours. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Please know you, and all free ASL creators, are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for doing these videos! I work in a store close to a school w a significant ASL population and am trying to learn more ASL to help them when they come in and need assistance. I frequently look things up on my handheld device (and sometimes need to scan it). Would "handheld device" symbol be the same as a tablet or smart phone? Or does it have it's own sign? How would I sign that I need to scan a barcode or QR? How do I let them know I'm waiting while the device is "loading" (sometimes our apps work slowly)?

Thanks for the video. I have been wondering the sign for "phone" since I learned the sign decades ago before you could slide a phone into your pocket. 📞. I hadn't thought of some signs that are so common like google or even the phrase "Google it". You mentioned that Zoom is like showing the many chat boxes in a call, but when you signed it I thought, "it's like the sign for chat going in the shape of a Z" On another note, I like your little memory helpers. For example, you explained download as grabbing it from the cloud. Now I can see that sign.

Thanks, I’m glad that you are enjoying the videos. My parents felt the same way as you when they started learning ASL in their early 50s, but by being consistent they were able to become fluent over time, just hang in there and approach it with the right mindset and you’ll do great!
