Wishing you a speedy recovery, Chris! How about videos on (1) how to index your gears & (2) how to size a new chain? Thx

Top tips & sensible, pragmatic advice. Sometimes, you do get what you pay for. Nice video, Chris & Jimmy 👏. I didn't know you had an op Chris......wishing you a speedy recovery to full health 👍. Elvis has left the bike shop with a new Argon Krypton Pro ! 😉😅

Thanks mate. Recovering well. Didn’t massively want to shout about it but it’s why I’ve not been riding much lately

@ChrisHallRides Hi Chris 👋 you absolutely have the right to privacy and keep things away from KZbin and the like. A full recovery is paramount. Take care, and we'll see lots of cycling when you're ready 👍. Your current bike videos are always a good watch. Have a grand week ahead, 🍻 Graham.

Tick got those, though did make my own chain whip out of an old chain. If possible wheel truing, though I appreciate probably less of an issue these days with carbon wheels.

Great shout. Definitely still an issue worth covering :)

Mine is a general question: what sort of jobs are best left to pro mechanics? Certainly amateur and advanced amateur mechanics can tackle most maintenance, repair or upgrades...what are some examples of jobs we backyard types should leave to experienced pros?

Good question! Off the top of my head one I always think is bleeding breaks. One I don’t like and don’t think I’ll ever really do

Some procedures best left for shop and pro mechanics: PressFit bottom bracket work: Some bottom bracket shells may not be in-spec, so a very well-equipped workshop has the right tools to correct it back to spec, like reaming an undersized bore which, if left ignored, causes radial overcompression on the bearings, shortening bearing lifespan. Disc brake mount facing: It's mainly on the cost and use frequency of the disc brake mount facing tool. Once the issue is rectified, you no longer need it unless you got yourself another frameset with such a problem, but a shop sees multiple framesets monthly, so it's more worth it for a shop to own such a tool. Rear derailleur hanger alignment: Not a piece of cake, but not that advised against. A hanger alignment gauge may not be used often, but when your hanger only needs to be realigned instead of replaced, you'll be glad you have this tool. This is for riders who are at least moderately to above-average mechanically adept as making too many corrections on the hanger weakens the material. The error margin is even smaller on frames with integrated hangers (usually on some steel and titanium frames).

How much ???? Run 2 x. 9 speed Shimano cassette 15 Quid. 9 speed Shimano chain 15 Quid. Wanna go modern? Ok, tad more coin and run 10 speed.... 11 and 12 speed is just marketing bollox for elite athletes. The average cycllist? 8-9-10 speed with 2 x or 3 x....
