This is one of the cleverer pieces of new technology I’ve driven in years. Yes, it’s a bit heavier, but this new turbo/hybrid tech shows Porsche’s new performance direction. And it’ll mean we get some VERY fast cars…

As a life-long Porsche fan, it’s nice to see them come up with a solution to maintain ICE engines in the 911 and not destroy the experience. That being said, I still prefer the size, styling, interior and manic motor of my 991.2 GT3. I’ve almost bought a new 992 version a couple of times, but I’m still not sold on them enough to change.

At the moment, I think this is one of the most complete "enthusiast" cars on the market. Fast enough without being bonkers, clever enough without being complex, and comfy enough on the road while being usable around a track. Those with pockets deep enough, could definitely create a one car garage with something like this. TBH the 911 has always been a very complete car in almost any version!

When the Turbo S comes out with this hybrid system it'll probably go 0-60 in less than 2.0 seconds, it already did it in 2.2 and it's essentially the fastest non-electric 0-60 in the world. Compare to Lambos, Ferraris, McLarens, Astons. They STILL cannot hit 2.2 and Porsche did it last gen

With this system you don’t need a wastegate, as the ‘overspeed’ of the turbo energy is harvested back to the battery for deployment in the gearbox e-motor. The e-motor is the starter, generator (alternator) and could be the reverse gear (as per McLaren W1)
@givemeajackson2 ай бұрын
i think i'd legit have this over a turbo. sounds better, goes like hell too, and apparently doesn't feel all that turbo charged. very impressive stuff from porsche. also, i love the idea of using the turbo as a generator! so clever, you're gaining back battery even when you're full throttle.
