Dude i spend nearly every day trying to convince people that removing little conveniences from my life has made it so much more fulfilling and they look at me like i'm crazy. So i totally respect this. I was planning on trolling in the comments about how you waxed poetic about getting drunk and going to mcdonalds like it was some magical adventure, but the last few minutes of the video sold me. Youre a good writer. Good job.

I remember going to pick up GTA 4 on release day pre-order at GameStop in Corona, CA. Waiting in line, it was raining, and people were all talking about how exciting this is, and we were all guessing what new features the game might have. "Dude I'm sure you can like walk into every building, and they're gonna have so many new cars, etc.." And then going back home and installing it, having to deal with the Rockstar Launcher that was broken to hell, but eventually I - like many millions of others - filled the shoes of Niko Bellic and went on a ride I will never forget. I think I spent a whole day not even doing missions, just cruising around causing havoc. Good times!

I went to the GTA IV midnight release, I will never forget that night. I was living in Memphis, TN. at the time, and the line was long as fuck. We were all out there just hanging out, talking shit. The police even pulled up and skipped the line to get their copies. We have lost that, but I prefer digital these days.

A producer (maybe 50) once told me how something’s been lost with gps. The stories and adventures people would go on just to get to a place. Even in the 90s, a long trip to visit someone was “Hopefully I’ll get there by tonight”. Detours, realizing your going the wrong way, not knowing the fastest (boring highway) routes. Asking for directions, going a buying a map of the town. Sounds horrible to me, but he said they had plenty of adventures because of it.

Boy, when I was your age, I was going on road trips in a rented van full of buddies, moshing to Metallica, then traveling down the coast, stopping in cool spots to camp on the beach, surf, and girl watch. Then grabbing the mountain bike to go bombing down some treacherous trail the next weekend. It's good to go on adventures and build memories, especially when you're young. I'd only say, aim higher, friend. The world is an amazing place. Turn off the game console, put the phone down, go out and explore the real world. You won't regret it.

I got all teary-eye watching this video. 🥺I still get my games as physical copies. And yes, I remember my days at Blockbuster - that specific smell and familiar open space comes to mind. I remember just being surrounded by endless stories, from horror to mystery, and being excited by whatever I was going to watch with my family. Then Blockbuster started releasing videogame rentals! Devil May Cry is my FAVORITE series. I fell in love with it since the DMC1 demo came out with my Resident Evil Code Veronica (REMEMBER WHEN PHYSICAL COPIES USED TO COME OUT WITH DEMO DISCS??? ❤❤❤). I was so excited when Devil May Cry (the full game) finally got released. I immediately went to my Blockbuster to rent it out. I rented it out SO MUCH that I eventually convinced my parents to buy me the game (since it ended up being cheaper that way lol).

**thank you so much; explanation at the bottom** Dude you're so right and although I'm almost 50 now, I can relate to your Blockbuster part of the story also. I worked at a movie theater back then. Because of my hours I would be the guy whether it's to get together with a girlfriend or to hang out with buddies, who would make the run to Blockbuster while everyone is at work on the release date of when they get copies of the movie that was only in theaters a few months ago. At least where I grew up, (on a release date of a movie) if you didn't get it early at Blockbuster you're not going to and your only chance was to be off of work that day or to have unusual work hours. And I remember being the guy who was able to tell my friends and my girlfriend, "I got Pulp fiction for tonight!" And sir you are so right it's those memories that go along with all the things in life that really make who we are more pleasant and the memories surrounding the item are from a time we will equally not forget no matter what era we grew up in. By the way I somehow stumbled upon your channel the other day and I'm a new fan and subscriber ever since. Somehow your matrix video came up in my feed and I've been trying to watch your videos ever since. I am an over-the-road truck driver who is always looking for ways to find something to listen to to kill the boredom OR to just stop thinking about how much I miss my wife and children and even my dog. Well I don't know what your name is Sir but thank you for your videos because they are now a part of the rotation that helps to keep me sane on the road

I still remember going to the post office way back in 1992 to pick up my copy of Dune 2. It was my first RTS game, and it started a life long love for the genre. I also vividly remember visiting the local equivalent of Blockbuster in the 80s and 90s, as well as browsing the movies and games at this DVD- and record shop just down the street from where I used to live. Now all that is gone, and all that's left is online.stores and streaming. I still collect physical media, both because I grew up with it and old habits die hard, and because I like being able to hold something like a comic, a DVD or a book in my hand. Also, paying $15 for a movie and have it in my shelf is far better in my opinion than having to subscribe to 40 streaming services to _maybe_ get access to everything I want.

The core idea of this video is honestly beautiful. Remembering to live, to smell the roses, but honestly I feel as though I’ve done that with digital releases. Now yes I love picking physical games up l, I’ll never forget the day I skipped school with my mom and sister in order to buy a switch animal crossing edition on launch day. I could go on and on about that but I can also describe the feeling of calling up my friends, all of us anxiously anticipating it to be midnight so we can experience a new game together. My favorite game of all time has to be animal crossing new leaf, a game I bought Christmas Day on the eshop. I remember receiving a 3ds for Christmas and continuously reopening the eshop desperately wanting to get it. That download to me was like that car ride, slow but part of the journey. Digital doesn’t always has to mean worse, live a little, get involved. If you don’t engage with the things you love, you’re not gonna get a whole lot back.

My older sibling got Super Smash Bros Brawl at launch while I was at school, so I didn't get to go to a game store to pick it up but coming home from school and suddenly having Brawl was an amazing feeling. A few years later at E3 2011, Nintendo announces there will be a Smash Bros for 3DS/Wii U and I was hyped at the idea of playing Smash Bros on the go and in HD respectively. At E3 2013 the first trailer with gameplay for these games were shown and I was amazed at how great the Wii U game looked. In October 2014, I got Smash for 3DS at launch and playing it with friends at school shortly after was a lot of fun. Then on November 2014, Smash for Wii U was finally out on a Friday and my Dad knew how excited I was for the game and drove me to Gamestop right when I got home from school. The Gamestop was packed with some people there also getting the game and I remember talking with other people about who they were gonna main. I got the game and 3 amiibos (Amiibos launched for the first time along with Smash for Wii U) and then proceeded to play the game all weekend long. I had waited years for the game and it was surely worth it and those memories on launch day will be something I'll never forget.

I remember going to the midnight launch of Mass Effect 3 with my buddy at our local GameStop. We had class the next day but we didn't care. All we cared about was that we were finally gonna see the ending to mass effect trilogy! While we waited in line, we met some other mass effect fans and had awesome conversations with them. We compared choices we made in the series, class types we used, characters moments, etc. Good times. 😄 You just can't do that with digital downloads.

Met up with my oldest friend, got dinner went over to Gamestop, and just hung out for a few hours, played some games, and sat with a bunch of people also waiting for midnight. Mostly, I get physical because you can collect them. I started using the internet way back in 1996. I've seen lots of things taken out of me that I loved, and so I now make sure that does not happen anymore. Also, with digital, you can easily lose them. I remember buying a music album from Microsoft when they used to sell music. I lost it. I guess I did not remember to make a backup and now it's lost forever (was from a rare artist that does not sell her music anymore).

A cherished memory to be sure. I absolutely understand. So let me share my story. I swear, this is true. Its 2001 and Microsoft is about to launch its first console. On one hand I was working for Microsoft at the time, on the other I did not live in the US. In fact, where I lived then, Venezuela, there was no chance whatsoever to purchase a console or games. What I had was a friend. One of my best childhood friends was then living in Florida, he usually would do the preorders for me, get my consoles and games and I would eventually pick them up. I used to travel to the US two or three times a year on business. As part of this arrangement he got to play my consoles until I could get them So as per usual, he preordered my XBOX, along with DOA3, Oddword Munch's Oddisey and one more game I never heard about before, Halo. Don't tell anyone, but it was Oddworld I was most excited about. I did not know when I would be able to pick my console up, probably months. But as luck would have it, Microsoft ended up sending me on a one week business trip, on launch week. Not joking. The catch, I was going to be in Seattle. Timing was tight, so I would not risk sending the console across the country. I resigned to my fate, so close yet so far. Then fate intervened again At the end of the conference, I headed to the airport as usual. Sitting there by gate, the announcement came. The flight was overbooked and they were requesting two passengers to volunteer. I even hesitated for a few minutes. Is this really happening? Gathered some courage and walked to the desk. I told the attendant, I'm willing to give up my seat, if you can arrange a stop in Miami. After what felt like an eternity she called me back. They would grant my request. I would have to wait for hours and then spend a night in Miami. I was beside myself. There was an eerie feeling at the gate after everyone had left. Only two passengers left behind, me and a heartbroken looking girl. I decided not to call my friend, I was just going to drop by. He's that kind of friend. The flight was delightful, they even upgraded me to business, my only time ever in that class. I arrive at Miami and take a taxi to my friend's house. Its late in the evening. I knock on the door anticipating the surprised look on his face. I did get the "WHAT? HOW?" face I was expecting. I walk in to find a group of his friends, playing DOA3. I join. It doesn't get any better than this. That xbox died eventually and was replaced. Still have the three games, along with the replacement xbox. This is what it's all about,

I totally understand your point and i do feel it in a way but its kinda different for me. You see what makes a memory good is the way its unexpected, how it happen and the actual nostalgia of it enhance it. I have a similar story of you of going to pick Gears of War Judgment on a huge snowy day to a EBgames across town because i pre-ordered it there before moving out where i was. I had to walk and wait for buses in the snow, in snickers, and when i finally got home to play it, man it felt good. But these are old memories that i like to cherish but do not want to articially recreate. You mentioned RE2 (wich is kinda funny to me as it feel like yesterday that game released) wich is a Gen 8 title and you got lucky on this one the game was pretty much great right away. Maybe there indeed was a day 1 patch as you mentioned (or maybe its just disc installation you meant) but i don't remember that game to be buggy. Sadly so many games now release buggy that for ME it killed the fun of buying physical. This and the mandatory installations, the lack of game booklet, the small ugly boxes (vs old cool dvd cases) and so on. So now i pretty much only buy digital when it comes to modern games. And this may sound funny, but the simple fact of not having to get up and switching disc all the time is something i find VERY annoying when playing physically my older games lol. But to say more on memories, as you mentioned Blockbuster etc. I loved the video store era and im older than you so i lived trough the time where we would go rent movies and NES games at the video store. They always had these 2 for 1 and my mom would let me pick a movie and 1 game and she would pick the other 2. It was great memories as a kid. But looking back at it, im fond of it cause of what it represent. I still have a video store nearby (in the basement of a convenience store) and ocasionally ill rent a movie there but the fun of choosing it ... i get it as well browsing the digital store. Sure the place is mostly empty when i go (ill be lucky is one other person is there to pick a movie) and that does change the experience as back then, but i mean i get SO MUCH MORE choice now on digital services because tons of movies never came to Quebec due to not being translated etc. And truth is... i hate having to go drop it back the next day. I mean i hated that part as a kid and teen as well lol but even more now. What im trying to say is time evolved. I look back at tons of things in nostalgia googles. My old walkman, my old consoles, old movies, i still have a few VHS left even, and yes sometimes i can briefly recreate those memories like for instance there is a store selling used medias in the town nearby (vinyle, cds, dvds, blurays and even VHS) and its kinda cool to enter there and browse the VHS section but then i realize all of those are old movies, no new releases, and thats because VHS is obsolete as a format. Outside the few odities im happy to find because for instance the french dubbing is only on VHS or movies was reddung with a different one on DVD, what would be the point of buying a VHS? Picture quality is bad right away, even worst now as these ages. I rather just remember the memory of renting them as a kid.. Sorry for the wall of text but i enjoyed listening to your story and wanted to kinda share my side of view on it.

No worries I enjoyed the read. I agree and believe it or not I actually buy most games digital. Only when its something important to me do I go out for the game case. Times are changing but I can tell that along with it many things are watered down. For instance I used to have a used dvd store around the corner of my house that sadly went out of business, but it sort of became a weekend routine for awhile to buy a couple movies there. I watched a few films from there that started off weak and I actually quit watching, but since I had purchased them I felt the need to later go back and try again, and got super into them the second time. One of them became one of my favorite indie films of all time, a vampire flick called Habit. Anyway I dont get that connection on streaming. I will just stop watching and never try again. Theres no bond. To many options. Its good and bad, and thats kinda the spirit of what Im trying to say in the video. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@OpticLureProductions Yeah the stores quantity as diminish a lot. During the early 2010 i picked so many movies physically out of video stores, and now those are all gone. Its weird to not have them anymore in a way. The one i mentioned from my story is the same as when i was a kid funny enough, but there inventory is so small compare to back then (they closed half the floor) and they have no games since the end of the 6th gen.. Still i kinda like going in the basement cause its physically the same space as when i was a kid. I do enjoy getting RE games physically too as its also one of my fav series. But i kinda stopped at RE3 remake. May buy RE4 remake physically tough, still debating. RE7 i still need to play, it just don't appeal much to me at first glance, too different, i picked up pretty cheap digital tough. This was a great video, your story made me wish I went out to get my games, which is something I haven’t done since…BO2…I think. I’ve gone basically 100% digital since the start of Xbox One/PS4 gen, which I regret. I’ve been really missing having physical games for some time now. The journey of purchasing the game from a store is part of the experience because it is an actual experience unlike downloading it, it adds something to the whole experience and can give you great memories just like it did with you. When I get a PS5 I’m gonna go back to physical, unfortunately I think this will be the final generation we get physical games. Really wish midnight launches were a think still, only went to 1 (MW2).

My favorite "picking up a game" story is waiting outside GameStop in the morning to get Dying Light on launch day. There was another guy there and I noticed he had a shirt with a bunch of cats in space suits looking up dramatically like a movie poster. I asked him if he was picking up Dying Light and he was. Then I asked him if he wanted to see something funny and I unzipped my hoodie and revealed my shirt with a cat in space shooting lasers from its eyes and a rainbow from it's ass. I should have added him on Facebook or something.

Nowadays physical may be up in the air considering that once this generation of consoles or the last are offline, many will not be able to actually update or even be played since they are simply download discs to put games on a hard drive. TL:DR get them before the servers shut down or else you end up with Xenoblade Chronicles X for the Wii U being mostly unplayable by it needing loads of patches to run at all hence it cannot really work anymore 💀

12:44 Its out of balance. Im 34, i agree with everything your saying but i also love the that i can just rent a movie at home when i want to. I still like going to theaters too. The truth is that it was easier to control the market growing up in that time so it became more of a culture to consumers. Corporate always wants money and many things suffered then because of it too. Its just worse now. The Toy industry was like the Mafia back then. We have to admit that we as children were also brainwashed in ways through corporate advertising subliminal messaging. Remember when the Coke soda machines were exposed for having saxy women and other images hidden in the ice melting off the giant can? The problem is balance as always. I wish i could have a vape pen back then but then i miss out on the story of trying to secretly het high without getting caught by my parents. Now you can vape weed literally behind their back and they cant smell it. Pros n Cons. Brotha, WE ARE THE LAST GEN OF GETTING THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS. haha We were born at the perfect time. We reaped the benefits of how life was before people became less socialized through technology. They cant appreciate how far we’ve come and at the same time how far weve fallen behind. Buying into digital is giving up your rights to own any media. You give up control to the corporations. Once physcial media is phased out, they wont sell movies or games anymore. You will have to pay subscriptions for everything and those subscriptions will gradually get more expensive. You will be paying to play or watch anything and wont ever be able to just pop in a game or movie and play for free again. It will cost you to play every time. Not only that but they get to choose what games or movies are available to you. They can delete any content they wish and take away your access to some of your favorite movies or games. Also there is no refunds and no guarantee that you will be able to watch or play what you want. If you get banned your banned from playing at all. Thank about the control it gives corporations.

Even though I’m a fan of digital media and how convenient it is it still won’t ever completely replace physical media #1 with physical media anything you buy you own it where with digital media you don’t and another big difference is the picture and sound quality the picture and sound quality on a 4k DVD or even Blu Ray blows away streaming a film digitally and if you ever notice whenever you stream a film sometimes it switches back and forth from HD to SD and sometimes it buffers so there are still a lot of advantages that physical media has over digital media.

I remember going to a midnight release for Guitar Hero 3 at a Game Crazy (small game store they started attaching to Hollywood Videos before going out of business) and this store always made midnight releases really fun where they’d usually have some snacks and everyone would hang out and talk games. This night, since Guitar Hero 3 had a playable demo, they decided to have a competition and the winner got first place in line to buy the game. I worked my way through the tournament bracket and eventually made it to the final. Being that I was only 15 at the time, the guy I played let me pick the song, so I picked Tenacious D’s “The Metal” and ended up winning the whole tournament. Midnight rolled around and I was elated to be the first one to get the game that night and my dad was surely glad to get to leave earlier too. I walked up to the counter to buy the game and they said “Congratulations on winning the competition. Your copy is free!” And they not only gave me the game itself but the whole guitar controller / game bundle. I remember hearing a couple “no way”s and I was just so excited and proud to have won the game for free. To this day it’s one of my all time favorite gaming memories.

I remember when I was 12 I really wanted Phantasy Star Universe for the Xbox 360. The issue was that it was impossible to find at almost any gamestop. I remember going to my gamestop, asking them if they had it, and they didn't. They called another gamestop, they also didn't have it. I asked for the number of a 3rd gamestop, and when I got home I called that store, and started a chain of getting the number of another store from the current one until I found it. It took at least 10 stores til I found one that had a copy but had to wait a few days before my dad was willing to make a 45 minute drive to get the game. That was probably the most exciting 45 minutes of my life until that point and the drive home I was just staring at the back of the case grinning ear to ear. Truly a very special game to me, and a special memory.

Lots of memories made witnessing the peak of society during Madden midnight releases at Wal-Mart that's for sure! I feel a lot of great entertainment is being missed due to the convenience of digital downloads. Something isn't good within the first five minutes, shut it off and click on the next thing. That game, movie or show I just turned off could have been something I may have actually enjoyed. With physical mediums, there was a sense of obligation to the product after having that journey and putting in the effort to create the entertainment moment. This meant giving the thing a chance to develop, which I believe is becoming a forgotten perspective. Couldn't convince my parents of that though when we only made it 5 minutes into a rented copy of Scary Movie 2 before they shut it off and didn't give a rat's ass about the efforts put into the entertainment moment but hey that night is also now a core memory of mine.

I would agree digital over physical but there are so many benefits to digital nowadays. Game share is a big one, when you and a friend can pay the price of one game and both of you can play is a ridiculously good deal. Nowadays I have children and they get their hands on everything, including game discs thats are in the console lol. My playthrough of borderlands 3 ended that day and even now years later I have a craving to play it but no can do. The lack of creativity when I comes to physical copies is just an insult. I remember the days I would go to town on the bus to pick up the latest game, I is a fond memory. Picking up gears of war and there is a printed instruction manual an art book and a steel book reading and just taking in the artwork made you more excited to get home and play. Nowadays you get nothing just a case and disc and its very underwhelming. Lastly installing games to your console just takes way to long to buy physical. I'll always remember when I got my xbox one so excited to set it up and play the latest assassins creed only to be faced with a download screen for 5 hours to set up the console and download all my new games, heartbroken I didn't get to play it the next day. First World problems lmao 🤣

You pay big money for a game on release, you then play it and don't like it. With a physical copy, you can sell it on, with digital, you can't. So thats why I believe, the digital PS5 has not sold well, while the disc PS5 has, that shows how people feel. I would never go digital with games, so if they just did that in the future. I would just play the older consoles and games, I don't believe they will do that to be honest.

Buying physical is kinda pointless these days. 90% of new games DO NOT come on the disc lol you buy the physical game but the game is not available to play. you have to connect to internet and download it. 😁Its hard to watch and not make a comment like every other minute lol Number one reason to buy physical is price options. All digital means your at the mercy of the digital store. Besides, the whole point of having a disc has been destroyed, crippled and pointless. Games are no longer finished at launch. Even final ultimate editions need download. If the game was 100% complete on disc, no updates or sign in needed then discs are the ultimate option. Because that PS3 shop channel already almost shut down. RIP Wii shop channel which means RIP Castlevania Rebirth, Contra Rebirth. Neither game was included in the current collections either. Discs aren’t the answer, emulation for gaming preservation is. Thats the only hope for how things are. Its only gonna get worse unfortunately. Trust me i feel ya bruv. No balance.

Besides the feeling of putting a new game disc in, Physical doesn't really matter anymore. Used to. With 360 era and under. But not anymore. When you pop a disc in, it just installs the online version. It has data on it. And it's more stable. But you can't play it unless you install it online. So physical games is kind of over.

Man ... I remember picking up the Songs Of Faith And Devotion album by Depeche Mode in 1993. I think I could've gotten it from that one store in my own town but there was this glorious store in a mall in the town nearby. It made the whole thing that more exciting. I clearly remember picking it up and bringing it back home on my bicycle like it was the most precious thing in the world. Like I had just gotten away with a pirate treasure. I still got that CD to this day. I could say the same thing about a lot of physical media. Like Serenity DVD, the Firefly follow-up. Or that Peter Facinelli film Stealing Time which I had to import from the US. There is just an irreplaceable value in anticipating a thing, a piece of art, heading out there, hunting for it, getting it and then losing yourself in it. Digital can't provide for that. It's easy. It's quick. But it's also vapid and fleeting. Many people today favor convenience to save time. Time they then mostly don't know that to do with. Streaming? Binging? They key to a great experience - which separates art from content - is that it's not that easy to get. When the first Transformers movie came out in 2007 (and yes, I know it's highly flawed) we had to drive to the other side of the country to watch it on the big screen. I guess all the local screenings were sold out. One of my oldest friends picked me up from work and then had to rush so we wouldn't miss the beginning of the movie. We had a blast watching it. And an even bigger blast laughing about how stupid the plot was when we waited outside the cineplex for the rain to stop so we could get the car on a huge parking lot. Ok, movies are not physical media but you get the point. We would never had that pleasant experience if we had just clicked button to stream it online :)

Wow, what a load of pretentious bullshit. And no, I don’t miss Blockbuster. I haven’t bought a physical copy of a game since 2015, and have no intention of going back. And here’s something to shut down the argument for good. I got The Quarry physical copy as a secret Santa gift last month and when I stuck in the machine, the installation was 40GB for my hard drive 😵‍💫 I thought, shit! Just how big is this game? Turns out it’s only 43.5GB in total. The disc only had 3GB of memory on it. Turns out EVERY game now is this. Every physical copy has just a couple GB of memory and serves as a download key to retrieve the game data from the online store (PS or Xbox). The latest COD game was the biggest criminal as it only contains 72MB for a 150GB game! 😵 So basically, even if the devs or publishers D-lists any game you love or shuts down the servers for whatever reason, you don’t retain a physical copy to preserve, you have a pointless drink coaster. That’s why physical games are pretty much dead and pointless.

This is pretty much why i prefer to collect physical retro games than new ones. That, and also because i prefer to play older games, which i guess that'd make me a retro gamer. It's cool to be still be able to play good old games, especially the ones from my childhood on real hardware in 2023 and on

OH MAN!! I used to live for midnight releases! They actually stopped doing them by my house for a while and then there was police escorts there because people figured out that everybody standing in line probably had at least $55 in their pocket and one night somebody came by in a car with a gun and they stuck out a bucket attached to a pole and told everybody to put their money in the bucket and they robbed probably 30 or 40 people on the line. I’m honestly surprised that nobody attacked the car lol. Do you know gamers! I would’ve started squeezing right trigger in my head, and I would’ve been it! But the cops started to come by, and essentially supervise the midnight releases. I remember the midnight releases I remember… I remember the last two dead space midnight releases, as well as many others, and I do remember everything that happened on those nights. Very glad I found your channel.

Reason I mostly buy digital now is that it's basically the same: discs require install and download patches. Some don't even really have the game, just info or a key like that. You still need to download it. So there's really no different. "But it can be taken from online" I hear someone say. I know. That's why I don't keep my game library online. I download them into external storage now. I never ever ever rely on downloading and redownloading my games. That's just not reliable. So I'd rather download them and keep them on a storage device. And take real good care of those devices. And when I get better storage devices, I'll pass on my library to those newer devices to keep my collection save and sound. It's more work, but much more worth it when physical isn't really physical anymore.

I preordered my copy from Best Buy in Riverbank Ca. and it took them a little while to locate my copy as well lol. That Best Buy is gone now. I brought the game over to my friends house and let him play it a bit. He screamed when a zombie showed up out of nowhere, then threw the controller and shouted "nope, nope, nope" and ran out of the room. I couldn't stop laughing. Good times 😆

Both have their Pro and CONS. PHYCICAL takes phycical space but you own it. Digital you don't own but it don't takes up phycical space. At the end of the day I compatibility agreed with his video ' When something is phycical you're care more about it.

I'm so glad I held onto my physical media. I've moved around quite a bit and sometimes the new internet providers have been total shite. Currently the ISP that the property managers are using likes to severely slow down the service at around midnight. It's a total pain if I'm trying to listen to music or watch a movie. When it happens (and it can last for a couple of hours); I just grab some DVD or CD (my collection goes back to the mid 90's) and enjoy time away from the internet. We had no service for an entire week once, and since I'm not a fan of watching movies or listening to music on a smartphone; the physical media was a life-saver.
