This band is at the pinnacle of present day jazz . Pat metheny did not know if he was the last of the old guys or first of the new guys , this could have come from the be Bop era but it is new and now and breathtaking . I have three tunes now from this band . Please keep them comeing.

Coalition, summer of 1970 … one of the great sides Elvin Jones and co. did in the 70s. Always remember Frank Foster penned this … Frank Foster and George Coleman forever!!

Very good group, but the soloists need to really emphasize melody making to raise its level, to play something that 'sticks'.

Thanks, now tell us how Michaelangelo could have improved the Sistine Chapel.

This isn’t pop music, you don’t to only have things that stick. The key to improvising for me, is to have nice sounding music. I don’t need to be singing every solo, that’s what the head is for. Some players are really good at that but not every solo needs to be singable/catchy or full of hooks.
@georgemcfetridge8310 Жыл бұрын
@@JordanHigginsGuitar If 'nice' is good enough for you, OK. I look for 'deep or profound, and this group probably has the talent and vision for that, hence my comment.
@JordanHigginsGuitar Жыл бұрын
@@georgemcfetridge8310 maybe nice wasn’t a strong enough word but if you’re going to be pedantic. The key to improvising for me is to have music that speaks and means something without falling into the typical ‘stuff that sticks’ pop sensibility and mentality. I wouldn’t always pair ‘stuff that sticks’ with ‘deep and profound’. What Kurt is doing here is extremely deep, heavy and profound. Maybe you don’t get it, not meaning you don’t understand but you don’t get what he is doing and that’s okay but you can’t say it’s not masterful. That’s just idiotic.

It takes some of us time, but in the end, why comment or listen? There are more than enough critics.
