'Apache' is a head written by Barry Harris on the changes to 'Cherokee'.

Love how Peter keeps his musicality and rich ideas even at this tempo, and that drum solo just amazing. Please upload more of this combo!

Grasso pianistic, classical. Bernstein horn-like, idiosyncratic

I could listen to Peter keeping it rich and interests for hours. The others, not so much, brillant, but how long before the awe wears off and it gets repetitive?

The difference between the 2 guitarist can be compared to how to pilot a plane.: "In front" of the plane, you have plenty of time, your piloting is relax, that's Pasquale, "behind" the plane, all happens too fast, you struggle, that's Peter. For really high up tempo, no technical compromise is possible, independantly of the quality of your ideas.

Grasso is amazing but there's no break in the wall. It's just one big run on sentence. At least Bernstein has better phrasing

@@arataka57 to put him in the room. Otherwise the sound goes straight from the amp to the mic to the ear with no room simulation. Too dry

Pasquale is far superior on this "Cherokee" clip though not as clearly as on "The Song is You". Bernstein is visibly struggling with the changes and his instrument. Maybe it's not his night, another day maybe?

Certainly not the way I heard it. They are both great players at the highest level with different vocabulary. Didn’t feel like Peter was struggling and appreciated that he left space and played in an interactive way. Peter pretty much nailed the changes too! Just not as much in a bebop way which Pasquale does at such a high level.

Strongly disagree with @vova47's comment - Yes Pasquale is able to play ridiculously difficult bebop language at a really fast tempo and it is truly amazing, but I found Bernstein's solo way more interesting to listen to, felt more spontaneous, nailed the changes, and every phrase felt fresh and surprising. Kinda like listening to Monk in lots of ways. Such a big fan of both of these masters and comparisons are pointless, but neither solo was "superior" imho
