There's a lots of triggers by Avalon's draw bridge. I caught one around 15-16 inches on a 6 1/2 ft St croix medium light action small rod, was a good fight. Never knew it can grow that big in these waters. Me and my dad ended that day July 12, 2016 with around 15 triggers. All on shrimp and during low tide. Don't cast a couple of feet from the rocks because of snags but throw it out about 25 yards and you should be fine.

we don't fish on the bridge lol, what I meant to say is thats the area but we fish from the rocks, towards the middle of the long stretch of rocks. I went to this 'secret' location that has a Mc'Donalds near it *cough* and we didn't catch anything. No kingfish, trigger, flounder on July 26, 2016. Just lots and lots of seaweed during low tide.

Hey man, Down South you can catch these whiting at the very edge of the beach and you don't have to put up with the rocks on a jetty. All you have to do is cast a feather and you're good to go.

A really good bait for kingfish is shrimp, either dead or alive, or squid. I know in Jersey you get a lot of dogfish on squid, at least I did, but now that I live in Florida I catch a majority of my kings on those baits. Tight lines guys.

Those are definitely "southern" Kingfish, did not know jersey gets them, thought they inhabited more southern waters. Northern' have a dark V-bar markings and has a long spine on its dorsal fin. I would assume they taste and fight the same though.

Hey guys,, we love your stuff,,,,,very enjoyable & informative. (Even though your fishing Jersey instead of the NC OBX! ;>) It's raining, snowing, & freezing here in Ohio,,,, but that gave us the time to watch almost every vid you made! I sure wish you'd comment on your gear & the rigs that your using for each species. What reel, what line & poundage, type of leaders,,, mono, braid, flouro? What you like to use the most. I'd also like to know how deep the water is where your fishing & catching in your yaks. I pert-near died when your yak friend landed that 10# flounder,,, and you limited on over 18"ers! And by catching them on hair jigs & blue strips???? That's awesome. THANKS TONS for that tip! Down NC OBX,,,, there's no problem catching 20-30 flounder with live mullet, but we'd be hard pressed to get a limit of over 15"ers. Maybe those blue fish strips will change our luck! Thanks Again, & keep the great vids coming!
