Cool video, I just picked up a 14' boat and am debating bringing it down there. Seems like it's all about picking your days and adapting to weather as needed.

enjoyed your video, love fishing, and can relate to small boat in chop, even less desirable when you get someone giving you wake waves, great commentary and reaction.

I give you props for going out there in a small boat. Even I felt uneasy watching the end lol. Great vid, you make me wanna go down there to do some fishing, in a bigger boat lol.

You guys are nuts running out there in a 14' boat. You had a really calm day based on the footage. The cobia bite is better south of where you were fishing in the middle grounds. You need to find 12-16' water south of the channel and anchor there. Toss palm sized chunks of bunker and you will hit cobia (and a ton of rays and sharks) in July/August.
@citruscountykiller9 жыл бұрын
Man talk about hoping sea tow is close by haha. This is by far the best cbbt video yet and done in a small boy. Most guys are keeping the safety comments on a low just by the size of your gahonas haha. Great video gents, keep more coming. If I won the power ball I would send you guys a bigger boat.
@ChrisMcIntee9 жыл бұрын
Joseph Meade haha thanks man, I would not recommend taking a 14' boat out there, we were pretty lucky nothing bad happened. We checked the wind forecast ahead of time and it was calling for near slick calm conditions but full moon tides and stronger than forecasted winds made it super sketchy.

Where did you launch from Kiptopeake? If so you rode right thru prime cobia grounds. Latimer shoals is marked by buoy 16 at the north and 13 at the south. Find a spot on Latimer shoals in water between 20 and 28 ft. for the cobia and drum. Use some cut bait on the bottom, live croakers, eels too. You were probably sitting on top of spadefish at the start of this video at the bridge. Be careful out there in the small boat. I live near the CBBT and its great some times but you have to pay your dues and learn the area, tides, etc. Respect for trying in the small boat.
@ChrisMcIntee9 жыл бұрын
We checked the bouy on the south side of latimer, we intended on anchoring up and chumming but felt it was too rough to safely anchor in the little dingy haha. Theres always next year :P
@REELLIFE_FISHING7 жыл бұрын
Boneshaker I was just wondering what's your advice on catching drum and cobia off cbbt pier I'm planning on heading out there on the 3rd any advice on bait where to cast how deep etc..
@wreckanchor7 жыл бұрын
Mike fishing there off the pier isnt optimal for the fish you mentioned. However, if i was going to try to fish for cobia from that pier I would probably do it on the ebb tide and I would hang a bag of chum off of a rope in the water to draw them in closer and then I would use live eels under a float or a balloon. You may have to deal with a few sharks but thats my thoughts on that. If you dont have a boat this guy is local and very affordable. He fishes from a Dock only a few miles from Kiptopeake. www.missjennifercharterfishing.com/about.htm

@Jinkinsonsasa9 жыл бұрын
Is that less scary in the kayak? I ask because i see a lot of kayaks out in water that scares me in my 16 foot aluminum
@ChrisMcIntee9 жыл бұрын
+Jinkinson sasa Id say the small aluminum boat was scarier, kayaks handle swells/chop really well, might get a little wet but you know you're not going to sink. Small boats can sink, this one we were in wasn't designed to be taken on wet rides like this one, no drainage system, if it fills with water youre going down!
@Jinkinsonsasa9 жыл бұрын
+Sea-Money Fishing ha, yeah i know that sinking feeling. I just installed a bilge pump to help wet rides. Just had a scary time around a bridge in current. Smashed my port side corner, broke a trolling motor prop, and took a chunk out of the outboard cavitation plate. It gets crazy fast in salt water. Its always fun to make it out alive with a good story..

sharks are pretty tasty. Mako is fantastic as big steaks, why don't you keep/eat your sharks? Just fight them out, get them boatside, and shoot them in the head. It's easier than trying to club them, safer for your fingers too.
