@@ChrisMustListThey call those small bananas 'Figs' in Barbados. They are very sweet and Meijer supermarket in Michigan, USA, sells them and the Asian market. I did see you eat part of the skin. One place I could have mentioned is Port Kaituma on the Essequibo river, which leads you into Matthews Ridge and onward to the site of the infamous Jonestown. I served at Camp Papaya there in the early eighties and it was a sobering experience. I am not too sure how much of jonestown is left as the Amazon jungle is quick to reclaim territory at a fast rate. I am also not sure as to the security arrangements around Matthews Ridge as it always carried about itself the air of a frontier settlement. Guyana in the seventies and early eighties was a different plavce and the sense of optimism and hope for a better future was still palpable, times of couse change as do circumstances and I suspect even with the best good will, things will never be the same.
