The condition of that catfish is the reason I don't ever use live or dead real bait. Yup. Artificial's for me.. all the way! You'll be washing your hands for weeks and still smell that thing! Your rigging always intrigues me as well. Although I used to fish mainly for bass, now I mostly fish with ultra lite and Super Ultra Lite gear in the Southern portion of The United States, so I don't use or have any knowledge of those types of things. Watching you being annoyed by "small" pikes that you were catching, while im sitting home right now, came back from my 6th, 5+ hours trip for pike on live bait and still no bite...... im crying. You are living in the greates, most bountyfull areas for fishing ever.

Chris - Catfish as bait is a new one on me - well done for trying something 'different'. I would just like to ask though - when unhooking the Pike caught on the Catfish, I find it odd that you used wire cutters to unhook the fish rather than the long nosed pliers alongside you? Wire cutters are used to cut the hooks / trace, and there is an audible 'snap' before you retrieved the 'hooks'? Can you advise why you chose to unhook a pike with wire cutters rather than pliers / forceps...

@@The_ginger_fisherman Chris - fair enough - yet the Pike you unhooked at 10:13 in your video was with a different set of pliers as opposed to those laying on the floor at 14:50 in your video? - this means you had 2 sets of pliers with which to extract the hook - and that audible 'click' at 14:49 is of a hook being cut.

Can't understand why you don't have the landing net fully opened. I know it's a pain when you are mobile on a river to have it opened when moving between swims but would be beyond annoying if you got something 20 plus and couldn't utilise the net as it wasn't properly open and the swim makes it difficult to chin her out for whatever reason. Not having a pop, you obviously know what you are doing but if it was me that would be my concern. I always have the net fully opened. Been using a Korum Pike spoon net by the way for a couple of seasons. That doesn't fold once on the pole but net can be secured with magnets / small cable ties to landing net pole to.make less cumbersome when roaming a river. Tight lines and merry Christmas all you pike nuts.
