This fits so well you have to think this is the original song The beginning and how the music stops at "mistreating me" almost as if Maria was making sure that word was emphasized so Hamilton realized how open she was to the idea. How once Hamilton starts the affair all the music picks up and the instruments get tangled up like the affair. How once James Reynolds finds out everything but the tempo of the song stops, the entire thrill and rush is gone with only the truth standing there, Hamilton cheated on Eliza and someone knew. The music picks up as the panic on Hamilton continues with his confrontation with Maria, picking up and leading to a version of the previous rhythm they had on the affair but mixed with the one of the confrontation. There is still lust and passion in the song but it's also filled with this panic and urgency. And as a final touch the song ends as the audience is left with a final bang, Hamilton just repeating that he couldn't say no as he puts yet another nail on his life's coffin

Hearing this I think of this: Mariah comes to Hamilton and it kinda sounds like she’s pleading him to help her. So he takes her home and stuff and when she says “Stay” it just kinda seems like she needs company at first and just needs to be loved by at least some one and Hamilton takes advantage of it.
