I'm SO glad to hear another performer say that "children don't need magic"! I've felt this way for a long time. I've had a plenty of times when people think because I do magic that I can do their kids birthday parties. And just don't understand when I say that I don't perform child shows. I believe adults are the ones that need magic to escape from the everyday mundane

I'm a musician and when I listen to music I can hear stuff regular people can't. Not to say that I'm special, it's like that for every professional musician. Now I've been watching Chris videos for a month or so, and I casually got myself a deck of cards and started learning some basic stuff. Absolute beginner stuff. But now I see the trick he pulled on the guy in the car, I saw something, so I rewatched it. And boom, I was able to figure it out. It felt just like with music, a surprise at first, then a connection. I'm gonna enjoy this in my spare time.

I don't think magic will ever get old. People watch basketball night after night, and they've seen better players, better teams. Magic is the same way. Presentation, how fast and clean someone is, personality etc. It will never get old. Just look at Chris Ramsay and all of his friends challenging one another to greatness.

Chris, I just want to say that I seriously love the street magic videos that you do. I do street magic for a living (as well as spotty gigs because magic isn't in high demand where I live). magic will never die... honestly, the more I feel like I've solved a trick... the more BAFFELED i am of how hard it must've been to get it down to a perfection. to me, magic is just another disciplinary art form that requires skill, thousands of hours of practice and even some natural talent. the adult mind may get fooled at first, but upon discovering the actual trick... most like myself, are more inclined to praise magicians for their RIDICULOUS level of precision, mind influence and trickery. for me, that's what makes most magic fun... it's like watching Steph Curry bury a bucket from half court, or Tatis Jr. nail a 450 foot homer... or even watching an actor give an oscar worthy performance. there's an artistry about it, a skill to it... i can really love and appreciate it.

videos like this always remind me what's important about magic. performing for real people. if you ever get down on your skills,frustrated by a move(cover pass for me right now) just remember that's not super important. blowing a spectators mind and forming a connection beat out move monkey stuff every time. The real magic is in combining social skills with sleights.

@FifaTikiTakaFan7 жыл бұрын
First he has Sponsors for his videos (he mentioned squarespace) so he does make money out of the YT-Videos, not out of the street magic. Maybe sometimes a person wants to give him something, but that is not planned. Second he does (or did?) Gigs, like magic shows for companies etc. where he gets of course money like the caterer or any other artist. In his early days he also did tricks as a bartender and got better tips or generally in bars for free drinks etc. Maybe he does it still, but I think you can now imagine how he gets his money, even if my list isnt 100% correct or complete.

I got the odd worthwhile control from the channel, but if good quality, free tutorials on basic controls and sleights on KZbin are what you're looking for, Asad over on 52Kards is as good as it gets (coincidentally, Chris probably agrees as he guested on 52Kards a while ago).
