I think most people don’t understand the size of this. Dall-E 2 is incredible! A common misconception is that it combines photos. It does not! As Chris said, it’s like a giant brain. When you tell Dall-E 2 to create an image of a dog wearing a hat, it does NOT take a picture of a dog and one of a hat and combine it with AI into one picture. No, Dall-E 2 knows what a dog is, what its characteristics are and the same for the hat. Then it creates a completely new image based on its knowledge. It’s like when you read the phrase „dog wearing a hat“. You probably saw some sort of picture in your head. The AI does the exact same except its imagination is way more precise. Truly fascinating and a huge step in technology, one of the biggest perhaps.

Why, when your phone can take "close enough" pictures, and is way more convenient than hauling a studio quality camera around for just a relatively small increase in quality. Chris, I am really excited for content creation for artist using AI. I can see tons of possibilities especially getting ideas for levels for game developers indie or big studios alike. I can't wait to use this type of tech to help me get a clear vision for levels for upcoming game ideas I have with it.

Visualizations of the future or alien tech will be reflections of our own visualizations. This is a "collective" mirror. It's still the Chinese Room argument/experiment --- but a very very very functional and useful version. Not AGI -- but a really great AI for various use cases!

One day all the stock footage used in this video could be produced with AI similar to Dalle 2. Just describe the scene you need and it will create it.

As an Art teacher this technology excites and scares me....both at once. In what way will this affect original thought? Will it get to a stage when you feed a script into a machine then it creates a movie for you?

Love this vid, also agree, ive been seeing a lot of people misrepresenting or not understanding Dall E 2…its not a photoshop system, its not a laptop, it’s something totally new…this is AI….something that has more experience than any human who ever existed. Something thats learning what to make and how to make it better….again, its AI….

So I guess life can really be a simulation can't it? A computer can actually create a coherent picture of anything that exists or doesn't exist in seconds. Fast forward it becomes short videos with coherent movement, then high definition, then character recurrence, then an actual plot/story, then audio, and then it runs in real time. Bam, life simulator. Maybe we live in one.

Things I would type. 1 - A human-sized floating Nicolas Cage head defends a "Build-A-Boar" from a swarm of office chairs with spider legs. 3D render. 2 - "The Backrooms" but it is populated with people and is fully furnished. Photograph. 3 - A 150m tall horse farts on a small village of nazi pedophiles. Crayon drawing on wall. 4 - The inside of a Costco with no gravity and there is a huge hole in the backwall. Pixel art, highly detailed.

You could probably request people on the dalle2 subreddit to put in your prompts. There are posts specifically on the subreddit which aggregates requests from people who don't have access. Your 3rd prompt would most likely trigger a warning, apparently even something like using the word "attack" in a prompt triggers a warning.

Nitpicks 1) DALL-E is typically pronounced similar to WALL-E... so like... "dolly" 2) 0:06 "DALL-E is an open AI". OpenAI is the name of the group / company that made DALL-E 2, as well as GPT-3 and AlphaFold and other stuff. 3) "It's basically a giant brain that uses the whole of the internet to create unique imagery within 20 seconds". I feel like this might give the wrong impression. AI models use training data, most if not all of which likely came from the internet sure, but probably quite a bit of human effort was spent screening which images were acceptable. Anyways, important point is that after the training data is collected, there is no need to scour the internet again. 4) 0:36 "Input your information and wait". I would say "your information" sounds like it's asking for information about you. Better term would be "prompt". Though I don't think anyone was confused with what you actually said.

Oh wow, I knew it had to be better than the mini, but I didn't expect it to look THAT good. Man, I feel like they've bestowed technology from the future to us! That's incredible. Although, I have to wonder like with Artbreeder, how similar is the art produced to read-existing pictures? I'm interested to see the samples for each. I wonder if design is even possible with this or if it would just be stealing from other people's art and designs.

If we can produce new art that is enjoyable with much less effort, why shouldn't we? Just as we made it much easier and cheaper to have nice clothes, plentiful food, access to information, why should art be treated any differently? Moreover, it can also give people a starting point, ideas for new art. What I think would be especially interesting, is if in the future we could have ways to turn thought directly into art, rather than going through the intermediary brush strokes or clicking. Though I don't personally see technology achieving that in the near future, maybe not even within a lifetime.

Worrying about the market is antithetical to "actual creatives."
