And this is why not only are the 2010s a very flawed decade that ended with a massive whimper, but the 2020s began EVEN WORSE with so much money which could have gone to saving the world and making it a greater place, but hell no, a great chunk of that money is wasted on making really uncomfortable movies like the 2010s Hollywood remakes like Cats to end them all off after we’ve been through the Bayformers pentalogy, the live-action Disney remakes, the foreign Woody Woodpecker live-action film, Jem and the Holograms (starring the attractive Stefanie Scott), Sony Animation’s overpraised (even by their standards) remakes like The Smurfs duology (trilogy if you include Smurfs: The Lost Village, but while that too was a missed opportunity, it will always look like a comparative, if not overall masterpiece) and Peter Rabbit.

@@hectorle3784 nope. People are overreacting to it. I watched the movie yesterday, and although I have to say it's not a perfect film, far from it, but it's not an atrocious one either. Unlike Dragonball Evolution, the film is faithful to its source, the characters are like they are in the musical and the soundtrack is just as good as the live musical. In sum, it's a movie that has good elements and bad elements, that just can't come up with an agreement that benefits both parts. In a scale from 0 to 10, being 10 the live musical it's a 3, but as a movie, it's a solid 5.5. out of 10.

They made a VHS version of the musical (basically a recording of the stage version) where they were in the usual stage costumes but with more detailed makeup than usual for closeups. I loved that back in the day--I dunno if you personally will think it's better but there's certainly clips around YT of it to compare with.

Or if the movie was just not made. Some plays do not translate to film. This is one of them. Even if it was costumes, Cats is mostly just singing and dancing with cats of different personalities. The main draw in of the play is the dancing and the sets. That just isn't enough to entertain a movie audience.
