Belfast Roastmaster obvious from the start it would be terrible because it completely disregards the 1st movie. In the 1st movie the Forces of outworld could invade earth if they won 10 straight mortal kombat tournaments. They didn't because the shown 1 the 10th 1 outworld lost yet still they invade earth making the 1st movie utterly pointless. Also not getting all original cast back including Rayden and Sonya is a terrible sign.
@acreppinstp8 жыл бұрын
lies. theres no way a kid can understand a bad movie from a good movie. they enjoy everything. As a kid I thought annihalation was better than the original because it had cyrax, jax with metal arms, animality at the end. Now as an adult annihalation looks worse than those late night Hercules, xena warrior princess reruns. Every movie I liked as a kid I now hate as an adult and every movie I didn't like as a kid I like now example Surf Ninjas, The Fugitive. As a kid I wouldve probably thought The last airbender was a good movie.

***** I know liking or loving movies as a kid that are undeniably great. Robocop, T2 Judgement Day, The Running Man, TMNT, SW Return of the Jedi, Jaws, etc. Since kids are likely innocent of movie flaws it's not surprising they'll believe a bad or terrible movie is good or great.

@@MikeM-np4od Diaz did indeed break her wrist and that's why Wilson was cast as a last minute replacement and it shows due to her lackluster martial arts ability (I doubt Cameron would have been much better).
@MKF304 жыл бұрын
@alucard, The Sonya vs kano fight wasn't "horrible" it was just shorter and bridget isn't a martial artist like the other actors in real life. It also had some personal elements to it given their background and that part where he kicks her dead in the ribs was definitely a pivotal moment in that fight. But anyway, the first mk movie is easily the best video game film even to this date. Watch SF, tekken, doa, db etc and you'll see.

Fun story, the exact day you mention, Nov 21st 1997, was my 12th birthday. My estranged dad was in town and unbeknownst to me, he took me to see this movie so my mom could set up a surprise party. When it was over we went back to my house and the party started. It was a rough night because I grew up really depressed and anxious. When I was surprised I was overwhelmed and retreated to my room to cry. My dad, who didn’t raise me so he wasn’t super aware of all this, came in and talked to me. Eventually, I came around and joined the party. It was okay, until my bipolar adult aged sister showed up. Already in a fight with my mom, she came over screaming about something and burst in yelling at my niece (who is the same age as me) to get outside now. Then my nephew (who’s a couple years older than me) got in a fist fight with my brother. The night was a total disaster, even though the few friends that did come gave me some pretty cool presents. With everything that happened that night, I have to say... watching this movie was absolutely the worst part of my 12th birthday.
@shawnfields23692 жыл бұрын
@Kryptoskillet Wow... sorry to hear from both your comment and and person above you had absolutely disastrous 12 and 16th birthdays, when this dumpster fire of a movie came out. I was massively into MK lore when this movie came out, and I loved the first one, also saw it on TV, but I thought it was the best thing ever, at the time; and I'd only played MK Trilogy at the time. And while that version wasn't the best, it did help me learn the characters names better and the ones I didn't know at the time, like Kabal or Stryker. The first MK movie and Trilogy were the reasons why I gave a crap about the series in the first place, and as a kid, I didn't think this movie was all that bad, but I definitely did notice some of the horrible editing, and awful green screen and "special effects", if you even want to call them that... and them killing off Johnny Cage in the first 2 minutes, which was a bad idea. I know Johnny dies when Outworld does invade Earthrealm, but just because that happens in-between MK 2 and 3, doesn't mean that he should've died there. Especially when the actor from the first movie, killed it as Johnny Cage, and that movie gave the MK kharacters and games themselves, some much needed depth, and the guy who played Shang-Tsung, even returned to voice him again in MK11, and Johnny had the best lines in the first movie, all quotable, like: "This is the part where you fall down", or "Where do you get these guys?! And the press says I can't act?!" And that same dude(Linden Ashby), was even going to return AS Johnny Cage and was ready to sign the contract for Annihilation, until he read the script, and went, "Oh"... because he read that his character dies in the opening of the movie. So he didn't sign the contract, and even gave out a Johnny Cage like response about why he didn't come back as Johnny. He was the best character in the first movie, and if they hadn't killed him off immediately, just think about all of the amazing one-liners Johnny could've given us to get through this slog...I know, it's MK, the series best known for its Fatalities, from Sub-Zero's Spine-Rip, to Johnny Cage upercutting your head off (the move's called Deadly Uppercut). But I don't think Johnny would've went and died like that, like a total chump. This movie is definitely Johnny Cage's worst role ever. No wonder the press says he can't act, geez...

To be fair, if Outworld is invading Earth realm, Kahn's army would be in Earth realm, not in Outworld where the final confrontation with Kahn takes place.
@JuriAmari4 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Considering the terms of Mortal Kombat, Earth would be on the brink of takeover by Outworld so technically it should’ve been on Earth as a sort of honorable last stand since Shao Kahn was one tournament away from total victory. Then again, he has been breaking several rules to get to that point and so he totally had the match in Outworld as an assumption that he had it in the bag. Obviously Liu Kang proved otherwise.

I think it's because Outworld is merging with Earthrealm.

I genuinely love the first "Mortal Kombat" movie as a decent, entertaining, fun bit of 90's cheese. And I genuinely love "Mortal Kombat: Annihilation" as an underrated so-bad-it's-good masterpiece. I never see it mentioned as a "so-bad-it's-good" film, but with a couple friend to riff with and a couple drinks in you... it's fucking brilliantly bad.

the part I loved is when Sonya finds Jax in some random hospital terminal, you have no clue how he got there, where any surgeon is or doctor for that matter is, he's just left on the surgery table, then somehow she manages to install the program or whatever into his arms? So he's somehow had surgery performed on him, still has his clothes on, gets off the table after surgery and is ready to go somehow.
