TOW RIG UPGRADES: My F-350 6.7 Powerstroke Diesel Gets Some Mods and Maintenance!!

I don't feature my truck on the channel that often, but that's probably a good thing because it's been a rock solid tow rig since long before I had a youtube channel! In this video I take care of some nagging cosmetics, upgrade the shocks and bolt on my summer wheels. The tow rig is ready for summer 2024!

No question, factory shocks are absolute 💩💩💩, where even the cheaper line of anything aftermarket is light years better. Happy for you brother! Beautiful F350. Loving the summer wheel package. Your vehicle stable is to die for. Great taste in rides. Little trick I leaned years back being a BMW guy. The wheels get stuck on the car badly. If you put a light, thin coat of anti seize on the hubs where the wheel mates, the wheels will never get stuck on again. It works. By the way, the stock shocks were toast. They should not collapse that easily.

Truck looks great man! I do custom paint and we always say that all pinstripers can paint, but not all painters can pinstripe. Same for the PDR guys. Those guys have some awesome talent. I have a love/hate relationship with Bilsteins. They are great for their cost, but they also are digressively valved. Which is great for stiffening up handling and eliminating body roll, but they can make the truck ride really rough.

Hydro shocks that aren’t nitrogen charged will not “spring back”. Doesn’t necessarily mean they are bad but indicative of the construction and hydro is typically cheaper lower end while nitrogen charging is common in higher end stuff.

Likely the factory shocks are twin tubes which are not under gas pressure (at least any appreciable amount). The Bilsteins are likely monotube which will be gas charged via an internal floating piston.

Damn great looking truck man. I have ran the Bilstein 5100s on a few trucks, great shock. In the north east however the salt will be rough to them. I would cermaic coat them before next winter.

The factory Ford Super Duty shocks are about as worthless as a wooden nickel. You can pull them out of the factory box and sometimes they work as intended, sometimes not. Glad to see the workhorse on the channel getting some love. I just did a detail on my 19 GMC Sierra Denali and she still doesn't quite have the shine your SD does (sad to say). I just don't have enough time to spend into it like you do. And one would think that 6.7L would be able to leave rubber like no other considering how much torques it has under the hood, giving it more boost down the line perhaps?

You're going to want to clear coat or ppf the bilsteins. The clear from the factory is super thin and you'll have some trashy looking, oxidized shocks by this time next year.
