2 of my secularised kids (christined in a Methodist church) are both showing real signs they want to become Catholic. (Not being pushed too much by me, but tons of prayer) I think my son is being attracted to Truth maybe I'm an attraction for him. I'm doing my best to live the Christian life imperfect as iam.

Thank you for a great discussion, with great insight as usual. Christ is different than any other king. He has shown SUPREME strength, integrity, compassion and love. We have no reasonable excuse for coming up short about who is our king. We just need to know our faith and try to live it every day

@@56247Christ was speaking in a particular context to a people who heard him and saw his works. There are still tribes in deep forests who never heard of Christ. Are they against him ? Please the scriptures with common sense. Christianity is not a game of one upmanship. Jesus also said there are people who call him Lord but have are indifferent to those around them in need, I see plenty of this in those who support Trump. And yes, CU believes Trump is doing God’s work. Now that is nonsense.

Regarding legality: The law is what is brought to court and what is then decided. Parliament might pass Acts but it is in the breach that these are observed, or not. And now the Crown Prosecutor decides what can go to court, thus inserting a third variable into the process. We are familiar with two - tier policing, for example, which is possible as the police know the system permits and insists they proceed thus. If the Death Bill passes then an abuse might be alleged and a report made and pass the Crown prosecutor but then the Woke judge looms, who has more say than parliament in his court. Then there is the European court. As a year passes, the incidence of reports of abuses falls as the precedent is set in the minds of officials.

Just a thought, I would love to attend one of your retreats, but they are very expensive. Perhaps in the future a less expensive venue could be chosen, or perhaps people could attend the talks and discussion without having to stay or eat meals there. Otherwise it remains an event for more wealthier Catholics among us... Thank you

In my generation, most people became Catholics because their parents were. Children were forced to go to Mass and attend some form of religious training. (Good or bad). Then at an appropriate age they stuck with it or dropped it. BUT....the parents played an initial crucial role. However, the next generation had largely dropped it, so their children didn't get the exposure.

I think the other thing that destroys faith for those who've tried it of course is the perceived or actual unanswered prayer/s and lack of an experience with God. Job only works because he finally gets an answer. If he didn't, would people find the story so helpful? "Out of the tempest......well, nothing happened, and Job stayed in the darkness, pain and despair he started with" Not quite the same is it? But for a lot of people that's what they have to cope with.

My experience is that I would pray for strength and find none. I realised that I had to abandon my own powers, which are negligible and leave the matter to the Lord. I continued to pray and found the strength had been placed into me and so I was able to proceed.

There may be fewer young people attending Mass in this country, but that is not the case in other countries. I think if we view the state of the church simply through Western eyes we can become very disheartened.
