I love how so many of the UK shows mingle in with houses and shops. They also go for so many days in a row. The US shows usually are in a big parking lots or state fairgrounds combined with agricultural exhibits, Wed-Sun only and they are gone Monday morning.

This is the absolute best and funniest video I have EVER seen!!! The rock and roll sequence is just the best. Now mind you Dave getting sick and dizzy was not a good thing, but the interaction between him and Simon and Si laughing through it all is something that could not ever be made up and staged...We had an agreement...no...ugh...I feel sick...anything to try to stop him...nothing worked. I cannot do the Rock and ROll withe the bar across the stomach ... I prefer the one with the strap that goes over your lap in into the clamp at the side of the car. I once went on the R and R with the bar over the lap and I had a sore stomach for weeks

Love the Rok ‘n’ Rol. Went on the first one in the U.K. many moons ago. Michael Phillips’ ride at Cambridge Midsummer Fair in the early 80’s. You got a couple of turns round before the plate was raised up so that it span the cars - and that was it for the whole ride. Non-stop! Have to ask - have you been on a Zipper? I’d love to see one back in the U.K. - Chance rides rule.

There used to be one of those spinning rides that almost finished you off in an arcade in Blackpool on the top floor when I was a kid. It looked so much fun from the prom but I don’t think I ever went on it, was it really that bad?

The Blackpool one, I think, was of the original versions, where the car spin was entirely controlled by the riders (I only ever saw it from the tram, but it looked like that type). Knoebels, in the US, still operates one of those, I believe. The one in the video is a Chance-made variant, where a friction drive gets deployed to auto-spin the cars. I rode that one once...and it really hurt my legs, for some reason. Walking was painful for weeks after that. It didn’t make me feel sick in any way....yet, never again.

@@GbHandlebar That was the (peddle operated) as around in the 50s and 60s and the earlier version of the Rock and Roll that came out in the early 70's ... they're used to be a 'looper' at Belle Vue in Manchester. The Rock and Roll in this is video is pernicious seems to be set an an almost permanent cycle. I used to go on the Rock and Roll as a kid in the 70s and 80s at the side shows in New Zealand and it did not tumble through the whole ride cycle ... there were pauses where it would just Rock or almost flip over then roll back.
