At 1:27 the site of the 'Oi Manawa' Earthquake Memorial Wall on the south bank of the Avon River along Oxford Tce. next to the Montreal St. Bridge; how it looked before the memorial wall was constructed!

popptrp unfortunately it was devastated by an earthquake in 2011 thats killed like 160 people so they had to tear down a lot of buildings that were determined earthquake prone, so theres not alot to do in the center.

Christchurch is a beautiful city . On weekends it is busy but due to the earthquakes alot of businesses have moved out to the suburbs. There is so much to see & do. Please do not let the recent event put you off coming here as we are caring loving people.

It's much busier in the central city nowadays. Cashel Street had been rebuilt, the Terrace along the Avon River on Oxford Tce has been rebuit. Businesses are returning to the CBD. Sure it's not at the levels it was prior to the earthquakes but with time it will become populated once again. If you like Christchurch I recommend visiting, especially during the summer months - December - February.

There aren't many people in the streets because there isn much to do in the city, so very few people go in there. It was also the middle of winter, and it isn't the most pleasant place when it is cold and cloudy. There has been a series of Earthquakes beginning six years ago that reduced most of the city to rubble.
