This video was filmed over 2 nights in a squatted warehouse on Holloway Road, North London in 1988, the 'congregation' were members of the Christian Death Society. I'm in there somewhere..

This was playing in my head today as I cycled around- I passed two Baptist churches and and one Mormon in the same neighborhood- and it struck me what an odd place California is. The next song I thought of was "Sweet Home Under White Clouds."

Love this song! I used to dance to this video at a goth club I went to in the late 80's early 90's. The Valor bashing on here is ridiculous by the way. The man is VERY talented and to deny that is being deaf, dumb and blind.

In the beginning there was sinning and in the end, well, let's pretend blessed is the fruit I dare you to take another bite of it and somehow I think you will in spite of it O'no no no no no no no passion like a hurricane O'no no no no no no no is desire a ball and chain O'no no no no no no no passion like a hurricane Sweet sixteen with a letter between Mother, virtue won't you explain? Harvest of victims for the church of no return In the beginning there was sinning and we made love like animals out of wedlock away back when it was the laws of nature not gods or men and in the end, well, let's pretend O'no no no no no no no passion like a hurricane O'no no no no no no no is desire a ball and chain O'no no no no no no no passion like a hurricane Sweet sixteen with a letter between Mother, virtue won't you explain? Harvest of victims for the church of no return In the beginning a hurricane transgressed the law and there was fire and desire, passion and smoke and from the mist that chilled the ashes came the men with the words of right and wrong, huh! Yea let's pretend again

EvilGothGuy: Find an independent music shop that still sells CDs and ask the person if they've ever heard of them and if not, then ask if they can be on the look-out for them. When a CD comes in, you'll be first on the list to get the tunes. Also, believe it or not, Amazon and other 'mainstream' sources sometimes turn up some gems. Look in the most unlikeliest of places and you may be pleasantly surprised. I got rid of my Nina Hagen collection in London in a shop and it sold the next day.

Christian Death is a great deathrock band... and if people don't like it, they can go live their diluted lives somewhere else... instead of trying to brag about their favorite mainstream band in front of people who don't care. I tip my hat to what you've said.

@TheShplaa AT that moment Rozz williams was not in the band anymore (he even formes another Christian Death: Rozz William´s Christian Death(!!!)).The guy who sings is Valor, and the other vocalist is Gitane Demone.

Obviously Fraxle found the wrong genre of music to enjoy, & I can't believe after all of these years the battle of loyalty between Rozz and Valor. It's Christian Death and it is the group in all forms (history) that created what it is now. There are definately great pieces in various ways, most of each I enjoy, even if it is at different times.

@sirus108 Eva Married my friend Edwina while back, I think he sings for Christian Death off and on, I heard them play with Rikk at Edwins house at a party a while back, it was like Only Theatre of Pain all over again, a lil edgier, but awesome. Maybe we'll see some shows with that line up before Agnew drops dead from a heart attack

Thanks for the intelligent reply, I'm impressed. I think we might have to agree to disagree on Cru though. That being said I always did kind of like need for speed. Not sure if you'd like the violets, their early stuff was kinda like Joy Division meets Sisters of Mercy. Their later stuff, not so good IMHO.

@hashfromplan9 What about "Insanus"? A totally underrated and diverse LP, in my opinion. The new disc "American Inquisition" is great, too. And don't forget how many songs Valor wrote on "Ashes" and "Catastrophe Ballet". "Everything else" only leaves three albums... . Go figure.

Everyone is missing the point here. That this song is a rip of The March Violets' 1983 single Snake Dance. And while this song has an Endured version, The March Violets featured on the b-side an Extended version, which pretty much tells me Christian Death didn't even bother to hide the fact they stole the song and neither did they credit the Violets on none of the single/album releases. Though not entirely surprised; the Candlelight edition of Catastrophe Ballet mentions only Rozz and Valor.
