Now here's a goth/deathrock classic! I learned it by ear, so it's not perfect - but here's my take on it. Love Rikk Agnew's guitar work on this song. It's perfect. The bassline adds so much dimension to the song, as well. Sorry for the blurry footage, again! For some reason my camera does not want to focus.

Awesome. This album absolutely changed my entire view of guitar as I was coming from a metal background back then. Hearing the Only Theatre of Pain album was like a huge awakening in terms of what was possible with guitar. You picked a great track to celebrate.

Thanks! And it did for me as well. I was already into goth/post-punk/death-rock/whatever-you-want-to-call-it a little bit before hearing OTOP.... But once I heard that album oh boy did things change! Rikk Agnew’s playing on this album is brilliant & it’s incredibly influential and inspiring to me.

@@MitchQuintana Absolutely. So much color and expression. Compared to the "riff-driven" stuff I was so accustomed to, OTOP was such an eye/ear opener. Another player I remember being so impressed with was of course, Robert Smith... his "just enough" approach is something I really grew to appreciate. Of course, don't even get me started on what I was hearing from FoTN :)

First off great cover man! I'm trying to use your video to teach myself the song but I have one question if you could please answer. The chords in the verse. Is it just regular power chords from E to C# and back to E? To be more specific what are you playing when he sings "home. Dance in your white sheet glory." Its sounds slightly different than the first chord or is it just me?

To answer your question in your original comment... Yes! I am just playing power chords on the A string during the verse. Starting with a E power chord at the 7th fret and moving down to a C# power chord on the 4th fret. I am also playing power-octave chords towards the end of the verses.

Thank you! Gear used: - Fender Telecaster - Apple iMac - Logic Pro X DAW - BOSS ME50 multi-FX unit - Scarlett 2i2 interface In terms of effects - various modeling FX in Logic Pro and a Marshall-style amp model. For this tone you’ll need reverb & distortion.

Sorry for the late reply - I’m just now seeing this. No, I’m not using any chorus or flanger on this. I recorded this cover using Apple’s Logic Pro X DAW and the preset effects and amp modeling that is in the program. So I didn’t use a physical amp or pedals for this. If I recall correctly I used a preset called “Old School Punk” - which is a Marshall-style head and cab amp model with distortion and reverb pedals. Distortion and reverb are the key elements to the tone.

@Hueco Uno Thanks! It’s a standard Telecaster with a Stratocaster neck instead of a Tele neck. This guitar looks a bit different now - I changed the pick-guard to black and added more rose stickers.

I didn't use an amp for this cover. I played directly into my computer using Apple's Garageband program. In terms of what amp I'd recommend - I'd go with anything made by Marshall. That's what I use when I don't play through my computer.

No real guitar pedals were used in this recording. I played through Apple’s Logic Pro X using amp modeling and simulator pedals. The pedals I used were likely distortion, compression, & reverb. (If I can recall correctly - this was recorded 3yrs ago).
