R. Simons is doing great at Dior. Both Galliano and Simons are genious. Just look at that couture show, it's all about the pieces, construction, texture, tailoring. It was luxurious and minimal. Great work Mr. Simons.

There were some interesting pieces but the vast majority of it was just so boring ..... I know Haute Couture doesn't have to be all about drama but this collection was so bland, the colours, the weird materials..not good.

Andres Jimenez I love Raf Simons' talent to work on certain fabrics. He showed his skills with this collection. I understand your point. Couture in general is offering less than it used to do in the past. I don't know, I still feel Raf Simons is offering some remarkable options during this couture season. Can't wait to see Maison Martin Margiela tomorrow. Cheers!

Excelente comentario!

Cheers!

Couture is about finesse and extreme hand work. Not about theater or costume as the pre-Raf Dior was. He's brought it back to the roots and its perfection. The amount of workmanship and embroidery on these clothes are beyond anything pret-a-porter.....

Bravo Raf! J´adore Dior! :)

I thought this was just right. I love how light and bouncy everything was, i think that's just what Dior needed. Don't get me wrong I love a heavy ball gown, but it was so refreshing to see a light, bouncy, fluffy Dior, I loved it!!!!

Love the clothes, hate the presentation. Models look bored, not like they're wearing thousands of dollars worth of haute couture. Incredible craftsmanship though, both structural and playful, more "feminine" than anything since Simons' 2013 Spring Couture show. 2:24 Sung Hee, two thumbs up! 6:14 another winner in my book.

Ok, actually from the hallway point on, this collection became very interesting! Bravo! It's getting better all the time... But how is it that after Galliano h.c, and McQueen h.c, that we can live with absolutely no more theater in Fashion? Ugh! VOID.

if you call this modern couture, think the designer walked down the streets of london,paris, new york.

Was this suppose to be a Haute Couture Collection? Really! It looks more R-T-W to me. Dior needs someone that understands the refinement and exclusivity of Haute Couture.

Sly Jackson I totally disagree with you. I believe Raf understands Haute Couture which is why I think his collections are genius (especially his haute couture). Couture is the epitome of fashion here designers have the freedom to really do what they want that is why I applauad Raf because his shows every single season really tries to move fashion in a more modern contemporary place. His clothes come from a very psychological point of view, he makes us question our choices, question our tastes and question the industry itself which is why I think a lot of you still cannot fully understand what he's trying to do not only to Dior but to couture in general. I believe Raf is doing a pretty damn good job looking back at Monsieur Dior his clothes were couture but very wearable he actually made clothes for women who wore couture which I think Raf is doing as well. With Galliano being with Dior for so long I think a lot of people have confused Galliano's theatrical aesthetic with Dior's DNA. Don't get me wrong I love Galliano and his shows were brilliant but I think in the hands of Raf, Dior is embracing modernity, practicality and a sense of reality but still with such technical brilliance and tour de force. His clothes to me exemplify a great understanding of design, design is where emotion meets function as opposed to art which is purely emotional. Plus Dior sales have only gone but up ever since he arrived so surely he is doing something right.

I have been screaming the same thing lol... I will say it was absolutely couture, all those hand details. I am starting to (after forcing myself) understand it a bit more... Like looking back at what Mr. Dior himself would have done I will say Raf's taste is closer to it than Galliano's, but Galliano was a showman. With Raf the clothes are pretty and that's where it stops. I think my biggest is that his clothing has no attitude, couture no matter how wearably simple it looks should tell a story and the only story I really get is pretty.
@petzezos11 жыл бұрын
miniwheat09 Exactly, no story, no fairy tail at all...
@promugger11 жыл бұрын
petrito zezus couture doesn't mean fairy tale. Yes, there should be a story but does the phrase haute couture ever means story? in French in means high fashion. If the designer doesnt want to tell a story (mostly to his/her detriment) but so be it because it is his or her decision. But I see a story here, a simple and elegant woman who has many facades and roles, all of which she emphasised simplicity, minimalism. Dior himself was never about showy stuff. He wanted to show how women could be womanly again after the wars had passed. Raf has stayed true to the brand, while modernising the dior woman by injecting a touch of his own magic in his clothes. You did not have a chance to look at the clothes details so do not ever say it was simple to make. try make one of those pieces yourself post on pinterest to see if it is anything that is simple...

Aparte de la colección, me aburre ver una pasarela donde la mayoría de las modelos son blancas casi transparentes. Es la idea de estética de cada quien, pero, ¿dónde queda la oportunidad de las modelos con otros tonos de piel?

This collecction looks like ready to wear. Raf's understated design sense does not translate well to couture.
