If I can get a little sappy for just a minute... My son is with his mom this year for Christmas, so I wasn't looking forward to this day very much at all. But then I checked my YT subs, and I saw this gem was waiting for me. Thanks, Nine Club, for making this old guy's Christmas a lot better.

I read that first sentence as “if I can get a little slappy for just a minute.” And I thought damn me too, I just wanna go skate some nice red curbs. Merry Xmas dude!

I started skating in 1984, slowly, with many wipeouts and little training here in Canada. All of your responses...(single) Dad-skaters... at Xmas time...we've enjoyed this awesome video, and I really do think it is inspiring. I'm 47, still skate mostly park/transition, not much (pool) vert at all, but I love pumping, carving, grinding, carefully airing and/or comfortably landing my go-to FS tailslides, sketching and sometimes riding out those elusive BS Tailslides... We're all lucky (if) to have our health, our children, our shoes/decks/bearings/wheels, good grip, and some surfaces/contours to skate. Keep it up homies! Thank you Christian!!!!! Go Dads and Moms...GO families...GO kids!!! This is PURE.

This is absolutely the best! I started skateboarding in the late 80's. My older brother had a navy blue dipped Ray Barbee ragdoll deck. My older cousin had a Matt Hensley H-street deck. My neighbors moved in from out of town and they brought skateboarding to my hometown. In a course of two or three years we had multiple half pipes put up. We all pitched in and helped build them. Christian is a bad ass and he influenced all of us. My first board was a thrashed Tony Hawk deck. My mom wrote me a $10 check to buy my board off of a older skater that skated in my home town. Christians story is a huge driving force in my life and hearing his story helps me keep trying to do what I can. Love the videos keep it up.
@termikes174 Жыл бұрын
That’s an awesome story. I started in the mid 80s as well. I grew up in San Jose, CA so skateboarding was everywhere. My older cousins were rippers with a mini ramp in the backyard blasting punk and kicking me down tore up boards. I will always cherish those memories

I know this is an old podcast, but man! Christian Hosoi was and still is the man!! In '88 I was 5yrs old when I got my first skateboard, and I remember he was the man, I didn't know his name at the time because I was 5, but I knew what he looked like, and I wanted to be him so bad🤣😂....and then when I saw his doc, it reminded me of my childhood. This was a good one.

So much introspect, inspiration, love and happiness in this one. I always got weirded out about individuals with their beliefs, especially when they are so strong willed and have a lot of pressure. Spending a little bit of time with Gonz after I stopped skating and we met through art, I’m not sure how the episode would go. I’d love to see The Gonz on here, but I’m not sure there would be a beginning or end to any story he tells. He’s just super eclectic and I don’t think he can put words to the amazing contributions he’s given us. You can’t sum The Gonz up in an interview, stories or with words. And I’d like to second and third all the other skaters that were mentioned to be on the show also. Last and not least Happy Holidays everyone. Thank you to the Nine Club who always gave me a smile Monday mornings and waiting all day through work to get home and watch whoever was on. Way too many to point out. They’ve all been epic. 🙏❤️🙏
