@@razkable him being so damn good in college hurt his legacy. He's one of the best college basketball players of all time if not the best (I don't know all the stats) then he goes to the league and plays with the best of the best and because he doesn't show everyone up somehow that takes away from a solid career. At that time it was a completely different league. I personally don't think he was used the right way in the league. He had a 13 year career as a starter then a 6th man, if you can't play then you don't make it in the league that long. People are so quick to judge and the same people judging didn't even make their high school basketball team. Then watching the game makes them some type of expert. Get outta town.

Which man in the world would not want to be Christian Laettner? Basketball superstar his entire life, NBA starter for most of his 13 year career, part of the dream team, good looks and very cool. Most people in this world are invisible as no one truly cares about him. You go anywhere near the Duke basketball stadium and even now 31 years later his name is still mentioned there everyday. If he steps foot on campus he is the most admired person in the history of Duke despite all of the hundreds of thousands of successful people who have graduated form this university.

@@colinmclaurin2673 kind of like how LeBron is treated now? But people act like he's this modest and respectful player. In reality he's vain, self righteous, not a team player, he plays for himself, fame, and money, and jumps from team to team to win championships. The fact people either can't see it or choose not to blows my mind. I mean, he called himself the greatest of all time because he won a championship for Cleveland. 1 ring. Not one great player before him has called themselves the greatest of all time. He has no respect for the game and the greats that cam before him. People who don't like LeBron are the same people, like myself, who see how he truly is and aren't afraid to point it out.

Laettner wasn't innocent nor perfect but people forget the kind of shit fans and coaches, grown ass men, said to him and put a kid through because of the way he played the game. These are the same "men" that are supposed to shape these young men and teach them how to become men. Calling him a racist, threatening to kill him, sending letters to his home and to his family. All because he was a damn good talent and played with a mentality that was worshipped in the NBA at the time. Same mentality and approach to the game and his team that Michael Jordan had. People treated a kid at the time like he was evil to his core. Over a fucking game. A GAME. Disgusting that grown ass men and fans of opposing teams treated a KID with such distain, again, because he could put a ball through a hoop better than anyone else on the court. Shame on them.

12:53 Very true, they call too many charges in college basketball. Once upon a time, a defender actually had to be "set" and planted on the spot before the guy dribbling went up to score, now it doesn't matter, it's usually a charge when there's contact on a drive.

So many past players, especially in the power forward position, done more things better than LeBron. Passing, defense obviously lol, pure shooting, and being a true team player and leader. Yet, because he could jump high and dunk powerfully people worship him. I'm not saying he not great but he doesn't deserve to be compared to MJ and he doesn't deserve to over shadow the best power forward to ever play, Larry Bird. LeBron doesn't have that great mentality to the game. My biggest problem with LeBron is people say he's the best all around player ever. He's not though. You can't be the best all around player when you hardly play defense and you take plays off multiple times in one game. Larry, MJ, Magic, Wilt, and so many more greats never took plays off. They went full tilt until the buzzer sounded. His first 7 years in the league he barely had a 3 point shot, his mid range jumpers was unreliable, and his defense was non existent. He plays for fame and money and plays hard when he wants to. I get so tired of hearing about LeBron like he's some kind of god. No, I'm not a LeBron hater, I just have respect for what the game means to the greats before him and how they played like it was their last game they'll ever play. If he played defense like he's capable of every game all year long, supported his teammates win or lose, and didn't play the game for himself and then try to act modest and like he has this great respect for greats before him, which he absolutely does not, I wouldn't have a problem comparing him to MJ. The fact that some fans don't see his true nature blows my fucking mind. Rant over.

Frank O What would be the point? To paraphrase him in the documentary, sports isn't always a touchy-feely lovefest. Besides, Laettner barely touched the guy. Like he said, it was just a "love tap". People need to quit acting like it's comparable to Tomjanovich-Washington or something. Hardly a life-changing happening for Timberlake. No need for Laettner to "have reached out" to the guy if he didn't immediately after the game. One would think Coach K'd have made him do so that day. But, apparently not. And if Laettner's not the type to initiate an apology on his own, then so be it. Time to move on already.
