It does seem that Christian has a bit of difficulty with the three magic words.... Being the eternal optimist I am, I think the writers are building up to the most incredibly romantic, sexy, adorable episode yet, so that Christian can finally say "I love you, Olli" directly! Aww that was great. I love how they didn't overdramatize it by letting Christian cry hysterically at Olli's side. His reaction to Olli being hurt was both realistic and fitting to his character. Now let's hope Axel gets what's coming to him.

absolutely right. to give the native english speakers some further information: the german word "doch" has a lot of meanings, usually you can translate it with "but yes" but it can also mean "actually/anyway/really" in ollies case its used to give his "ich liebe dich" more power and in german ears it sounds kind of cute ;)

I think C's reaction was in keeping with his charater. C was in Prison twice. Undeserved albeit. The thing is if you show any emotion like crying or love or caring in prison you are considered weak and become a target of others. Anger and aggression is a way of protecting yourself. C's only has a mental breakdown when he is alone. So it is totally in charater that he can't say the words I love you to a man he clearly loves but can get mad as spit in seconds when feeling disrespected.

I agree with lisauben that it's good that Christian doesn't go after Axel in revenge since Christian has already been in prison once. That means he has a record, undeserved, yes, but still a record and that could make it that much worse for him just to get a moment's satisfaction for taking revenge on Axel. Just because we'd like to see revenge taken, doesn't mean it would go well with Christian for him to do it himself. Thanks, Nanna, for all your work. I appreciate it! :-)

I don't know German law, so someone that does please answer. Does Germany have a "hate crime" law? In the US if you commit a hate crime then your punishment is worse than if you just beat someone up. Well, I'm a little better now that I already watched this painful episode, which I knew in advance that it would be that way thanks to some spoilers...so I'm glad that this horrible part is over. I really appreciated that the writers kept the beating of Olli as a low key, refusing to go "gory" (although Olli's bloody face was hard to stomach...). And because I always trust the way in which VL develops its story-lines, I'm totally sure that Olli will be fine and Axel will go to prison.

From the way Olli was refusing to tell the doctor what happened, and Christian's casual manner as he waited in the corridor, I really thought that the doctor was going to assume Christian was the one who beat him up. Especially when it was Christian finally announced it was some boxing fan.... I just thought from the doctors point of view it would seem really suspicious. I'm glad this didn't happen!!

Dammit, it hurt me deep inside seeing Olli bleeding & lying on the floor... I was sitting in front of my laptop almost punching it everytime Axel was to be seen on it. He's just so dumb -.-' But to Christians defense: I think he was simply way too shocked. I'm pretty sure he didn't really know how to react. I know that feeling, so I can understand his reaction during that scene. But no matter what, he loves him to death (no pun intended!)

Why would they not call the police immediately? Why is Ollie refusing to tell Leonhard who beat him up? I don't get this part of the story line since they do end up going to the cops the whole stalling and lying about it at the beginning just confuses me. Not sure how things work legally in Germany but they would have had a lot more evidence if they had called the cops straight off. My random thought is they pretty relaxed about the whole bathroom thing. I lived with roommates for years that were very much my family and can not imagine ever hanging out and chatting while one of them was in the bath.

+ceg2058 I don't watch US soaps so I don't know if they handle things in any way close to reality. Certainly if this was the US and real life then the Dr would have had to notify the police especially once Christian mentions that it was a hate crime. Although it's also mandatory for notification in situations of suspected domestic violence at the very least Christian would have been questioned. You are absolutely correct that the brunt of proving his innocence would have fallen on Axel. Again I've no idea how things work legally in Germany as there are other parts of this story line that would also not work in the US. Olivia trying to get a taped confession comes to mind as that would be easily thrown out for entrapment. I was thinking that maybe we missed a scene between this and the next one where Christian convinces Ollie they must tell the cops about Axel. Without that it just seems weird that he won't talk at the hospital but then it jumps to them talking to the cops in the next scene.

Ollis reaction is because of two main reasons. First he was gaybashed. Now we might want to be naive and believe that reporting a hatecrime will go anywhere but the sad truth is (for most of the world) the authorities won't do anything. It is only very recently (ie the last few years) that homophobia and gaybashing are being taken more seriously. But for many victims of said crime we know going to the cops isn't gonna do anything. Secondly is the trauma. Most victims won't report it because they just want to forget it. Forget that it happened. Forget that it's real. You basically try to convince yourself it never happened. I'm not saying that it's right (not reporting & not thinking about it) but as a victim of both I understand Ollis reaction. The world is a shitty place and we have to make the best of what we have.

David Marsters I completely understand that point of view and agree with you on the trauma level. I guess my confusion is mostly that it seems there is a scene missing to me. It just skips from the denial stage (hospital) to Christian telling the police. Even that is weird cause why did they not even interview Ollie? There just seems to be more they could have shown with this story. In the end I've got to remember it's just a soap and they are not often based in reality. As for the tub...I think I may be more modest than you and have a much smaller bathroom. LOL. Plenty of "bitch outs" with best friends yes, just with more clothes and in more comfortable surroundings.

I've seen so many people writing they didn't like this episode because of Christian's "cold" behavior, but I really think he's too buried in shock, anger and guilt to behave any differently... And that thing with Christian wanting Olli to stay in the hospital; when my mother was sick, I wanted her to stay there too because I wanted her to be in a place where she was safe, where help was only moments away if she got ill :) At the end, Christian shows that he cares by tending to Olli :)

@sophialefroy No, here you get the drugs for the first day/night usually from the hospital. Without a prescription. And simple analgesics are not on prescription. If you need more (or stronger painkillers) you have to go to your family Dr. and ask for a prescription. And...they know each other. (expressed understandable?)
