Thank you for that thoughtful discussion. Two things were especially memorable: 1) the "image of Caesar on the coin vs. image of God in us" point and 2) imagining the angels in the break room of heaven watching the big screen TVs showing the big news of what's happening in the churches while the ticker tape of political news scrolls across the bottom.

The most political sermon I ever heard live in person was by Donald Macleod on Romans 13: 1-7. It was preached in Edinburgh just before a general election. There's a captioned version of it on my channel under the title 'Christianity and the State.' Macleod was notably on left of the political spectrum but many of his political principles could also be applied by those who incline to the right.

I’m looking for that sermon by Macleod and can’t find it on the web. Could you send it to me if you have it?

I would have loved to hear them talk about 1 Samuel 8, the nature of the king. I think that is the best exposition of the nature of government power and the reality of what the king (all governments) will take. When seen in contrast to the our Lord and all He gives us is exceptional and beautiful.

Israel was a Theocracy. The gentile nations are not.
