The number is far lower than 57%. This statistic shows the percentage of people who are members of the church of Sweden. Before 1996, you automatically became a member at birth if your parents were members. So most people were born into it, and just forgot to cancel their membership.

The thing is however, these numbers don't say much because I am fairly sure it's the percentage of people who are members in the Church of Sweden (it's otherwise illegal to do censuses on people's personal faith). They split from the state year 2000, everyone born before that automatically became a member when born, meaning many of their members aren't Christian at all. On the other hand there are people like me who are Christian but not members in the Church of Sweden (which has become quite liberal) I go to another church meaning I wouldn't count as Christian in this short even though I am. Not gonna lie though, it's no secret Christianity is on decline in Sweden, people feel like they don't need a God which is very sad.

Yeah, we shouldn't romanticise nationalistic Sweden in 1900, back then many things were awfull, but it was partly thanks to the Bible-faithful free church movement that we got it as good as we actually had it a few decades ago. Most Christians that actually are Christian and not only culturally Christians read the Bible regularly, many even daily. The Bible shows us true love, and if you haven't opened it up for yourself, then I don't understand what you are talking about and why.

Of course, nobody can be forced to love someone they don't believe in, nobody can be forced to accept the love they don't understand, nobody can be forced to live a righteous life and treat others with respect. As beings created with free will we have the choice to live by our own desires, our own rules, but we can right now see where those decisions have lead us. Sweden today is falling apart, people are every day getting killed in the streets, we are the most self obsessed country in the world, we mostly just care about our selfs and money and material things of this world. Every year we kill thousands of innocent babies without their consent, we dehumanise millions in our country and most people feel that they are worthless, they are depressed and want to end it all, we are one of the loneliest places in the world. This is where our own desires and rules have lead us, to a society where what we focus the most attention on is ourselves, a country where we don't even react when we read about all the murders taking place, a country where pornography and usage of others is seen as normal. I won't force anyone to do anything, but I absolutely care. This is where this secularization have lead us, God is still here though, and He can truly change your life, just like He did to me.

The other thing that scares me is the Revelation scriptures, and to be honest the Old Testament laws don’t scare me a bit even though it’s consider cruel in todays standard, the thing is the Revelation is more centered on the coming of Christ however it’s still scary because you than have these people who think they are born again but there not so you end being left behind than some dragon is coming to leave people in pain according to the scriptures and who would of though a dragon was real, I also have to watch what im doing but it’s difficult if I sleep for to long i might be committing sloth which mortal sin, Gluttony is another thing, and not going to lie I still follow some of these scriptures but I’m eating a diet of 500 calories or less a day with having dinner only 2 times instead of 3, I don’t think committing the sin gluttony in fact most of the time when I masked for food I just reject the offer. I could honestly say more but I got work to do, worrying about hell and being isolated from having friends or even wanting a girlfriend is just half of the reasons why I ended up mental health hospital, I’m getting sick of living in this fear, what am I do suppose to do?

Swedish Lutherans and Anglicans have all but done away with much of traditional Christian theology and ethics, and their churches pander to what is fashionable now. Aside from a handful of rogue German Bishops currently on the verge of schism, the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Churches and to a lesser extent some of the American Evangelical Churches are the main Christians holding onto biblical Christianity and ethics.

Some people may be christian although not on paper. After 1996 people no longer automatically become members of the swedish church from birth. A lot if parents thereby may not go through the process of making their kids ”officially christian” and having them pay a church tax for a faith which they dont know if they believe in.

This is a bit misleading as I'm pretty sure it shows the percentage of church members and not people who identify as Christians. Being a member of the church doesn't really mean anything in Sweden. Some religious Christians even choose to leave the church because of "Gay priests", etc.

For an average person on this planet it might be difficult to understand the concept of religion in Sweden (and also in Finland as those formed a single country back in the days.) Sweden had a State church, meaning every citizen was automatically member of the Lutheran State Church. That had little if anything to do with faith. In Finland, freedom of religion was made a law in 1923, soon after independence. In Sweden that only happened in 1951. Before those years practically everyone was a 'Christian' by law, regardless to their faith or the lack of it. Leaving the church does not have anything to do with faith. The number of actual Christians in Sweden and Finland is very likely below 20% and I doubt it has ever been much higher. It has just been the arrangement between the Church and the State since early history that people have been defined as 'Christians'.
