St. Severus ibn Muqaffa mentions that St. Peter sent St. Mark to Alexandria (and the gospel was a recollection of the witness of St. Peter himself), which corroborates with ancient church fathers who said the same, due to the fact he is a nephew of St. Peter. It has been considered historically that Alexandria is one of 3 Petrine sees, which included Rome and Antioch. I think this is important to highlight in the story of St. Mark.

Have you ever studied the "Beholder of God title" in church history? I'm looking for info on that. Unfortunately, eary written evidence from Eusebius quoting Papias who quotes John the Elder tells us St. Mark didn't see Christ.
