How do I become a priest
@byzantinephilosopher2 жыл бұрын
You don't. Never think like this. You are only chosen, it is not up to you but God. You are unworthy to be a priest. We must all remember this.

I hope you did not take @CadeL682 to heart. They are wrong. The very fact that you were thinking this may in fact be a sign that God was offering this to you, or drawing you to it. No one is unworthy, because Christ has made us worthy. I hope you continue your discernment and wherever you end up, may you know God is with you.

@@jcannan2 In the Coptic Orthodox Church, one does not choose to become a priest. God and his bishop chooses him, and often those who are seeking the priesthood are not chosen. The man then chooses to accept God's call or not.

@@elizabethbayley7627 I’m not sure how this applies to my comment. I actually said that God may be drawing him to it. No one has said that a person “chooses” to become a priest (but we DO cooperate with God in discerning that call, as do the bishops). I am a priest, and I know full well it is a calling from God, recognised and approved by the bishop.

@@jcannan2priesthood is a serious task. some charlatans destroyed many naive people who listened to their advice. some greedy candidates bribed bishops ("simony")
