That gay couple kissing alone shook the entire world during that time, she is the only if not one of the few that portrait that image , so it very taboo then, and now you can see many representation of lgbt+ from artists now, so I saluted her to have the bravery to put this out and many more, also to handle all the backlash during that time.

"I'm Okay" is what I would say is her most personal, emotional, and darkest song. It's definitely something worth listening to. It's on the same album as this song. Her whole Stripped album is just beautiful. (pun intended) Her most recent work has some of her best songs and vocal performances. I highly recommend her songs Twice and Unless Its With You. Both vocally stunning.

Interesting note: the main vocal we hear on the track was Christina’s very first time singing the song for songwriter Linda Perry, who fought with Christina to have it on the record. (Christina wanted to re-record her vocals and make it ‘perfect’)

@IMOGEN RUSSELL That issue about her technique is relative bc they're ppl that claim some artist have a "better" technique. However, the lack of passion and emotion is visible miles away.. Then it comes the issue when you have passion and emotions your voice get to another level. They claim to be professional but remember the BEST such as Aretha, Etta, Patty and the list goes on. I've been a fun of Christina since 1999. This type of situation are not strange to our girl, she knows whats up and she's at peace with it.

If I could make a suggestion. I’m generally not a fan of live singing but one of the best vocals I’ve heard live was Christina’s performance at a Grammy tribute to, I believe, Nina Simone. This song and whole Stripped-album has helped me so many times. The imagery of this video was like a decade ahead of its time. The way it displayed gay-couple kiss, transgender person, several body-issues, bullying etc. that wasn't done or talked about in pop music in 2002. She has gained even more respect for this in retrospect.
