Something about the act of writing in the early stages of a creative project seems to work for me, better than lets say writing notes on my iPhone. Not sure why. But then it's all about the computer. I HATE SOCIETY! People don't listen to Christina Perri as much as Miley Cyrus or Beyonce (this is an example) because she doesn't sing about drugs, sex, or drinking! She ACTUALLY makes great original songs that have meaning and feeling, but people don't listen to her because (I've been told this) 'she doesn't have a catchy beat'.
