When you mentioned death and rebirth and ending of cycles, I immediately thought that I need to stop smoking. I haven't smoked in 3 weeks but that is because I got sick with a respiratory illness (and this is my 3rd illness in over a year.) Even though I am no longer sick, I have not wanted to return to smoking. I've known for years how terrible it is for me but I get immediate comfort and gratification which is why I continue. Over the past 5 years, I have been on a spiritual awakening and have made a lot of changes to my lifestyle to help my mind and body become clearer and healthier. I exercise regularly, eat healthy meals, meditate daily, spend time in nature, journal, etc. I've also stopped drinking alcohol and caffeine. Yet, smoking is a habit I have clung to and have been resistant to changing. I feel that my overall health will be enhanced if I stop smoking and honor my lungs and throat for all they do. I don't want to be stuck in this cycle of self-harm and addiction anymore.

Well, this is a strange coincidence. Yesterday and today (12/31 - 1/1) I was home from work sick, and I got sucked into watching tornado videos obsessively all day (pun not intended). I kept thinking that it was a metaphor for what was going on ... a ruthless, unstoppable force that shreds everything in its path. I feel like my existing lifestyle is being shredded and I can't do anything about it. Then Christina mentioned the sitting within the eye of the tornado as a meditation. Guess this is a personal symbol for me

That's interesting. I did that same thing on the 28th, I went down the rabbit hole of the "walking man" tornado like the one that hit Jarrel TX. I lived near there and remember the event but I never really grieved. It's really sad that entire families were wiped out completely, in less than 13 minutes.
