This is timely!! I'm seriously considering painting my kitchen cabinets sometime this year and need to do lots of research on the products needed. I will have to spray them for sure. I've used wise owl paint on furniture in my dining room and have been wondering if I should use that for my kitchen or if I should use something like this... I used zinsser primer on a nightstand with an enamel based paint on top (Sherwin Williams brand) and it did not adhere well. I heard later that zinsser primer and enamel paints don't mix well??? Am I wrong on that? 😬😬😬

Nice work on the refinishing job!! I have had great results paining directly over stained wood finishes using Rustoleum Automotive Primer and then a top coat of Rustoleum spray paint, provided you can find a color you like. I assume any spray paint top coat would work fine. Didn't even have to sand the surface before the primer. I have not tried this mix over previously painted finishes but I assume it would work well. The automotive primer has a great finish to which the top coat can adhere. I've done this over stained oak.

I used Beyond Paint on my bathroom vanity. One side was especially water damaged so I sanded and primed it. I waited over a week before I painted. I learned not to ever use primer with Beyond Paint!! The paint just sort of slid around. I eventually made it work and it’s been about 6 weeks. We’ll see how it does in the long run!
@ChristinaMuscari4 ай бұрын
The only primer i've ever used with Beyond Paint is BIN Shellac to block bleed through. And it worked well over that. Typically I don't use primer with it and have good results.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us, it looks fantastic now. I live in an older home and I don’t understand why people are trying to avoid brushstrokes. Paint rollers weren’t invented until 1940-ish so if you’re trying to have your work look authentic in an older home it’s necessary to use a brush. I guess it’s a modern look that people are going for when spraying is desired?

Oh no, Christina! HELP! BTW: It is so cool that you are sharing this fail, and recovery! I’ve got one fail of my own. Love your advice on this one, as you are also a dog lover, no? Got the perfect dresser - I even have the plan for the flip! Removed the hardware, started cleaning. Too late! Oh no! After being “bitten” twice I discovered this “perfect piece” had fleas! Luckily, I had collected only the drawers. While I am bombing the space/drawers, there is NO WAY to preserve the piece, right? by: 1) bombing the actual piece; but, 2) how can I be sure it’s clean and clear thereafter. I’m thinking get ride of the drawers! Have the dresser tossed. Cut my losses. Don’t look back, right? Any thoughts?! Thanks, Neophyte Flipper

I've never seen the caulk saver. I'll have to remember that. I did this recently. I was so excited to knock out this small little siting table. It was going to be a one day flip. Scuff sand, BOSS and paint. But... after two coats of BOSS I realized that the body was just scraping off. I was so silly. I had bought three items from a lady I knew. I trusted her when she said there was no wax. BUT... after painting the first one I should have known better. And its a small little piece with details. SO...... needless to say it has been sitter there in my studio wondering why I have abandoned it. Lol. It was a $12 piece. I'm not looking forward to removing all that Boss. The legs are fluted... so... will have to strip. It will have to wait till the next piece I plan on stripping. LOL

Wow, that really looks good! I wanted to paint my kitchen cabinets which have never been painted or anything except the front of one drawer that at first I was going to stain them and had started on it but the stain was so light I never did anything else yet. Do I need to do anything before painting and what of the small section I tried to stain.?

Thank you so much for this! I am tossing every last bit of chalk paint and will never use it again. I love Benjamin Moore’s Advance paint for cabinetry. The application is so much easier and no top coat is needed. I had a pro paint my kitchen cabinets with chalk paint and even with gentle use they were chipping in six months. I hired another professional to undo the chalk paint and apply the Advance. The difference is night and day! Two years later they still look new! Please, if you like enamel paint, do more videos featuring it on your furniture.

Hi, Christina! I'm not actually writing a comment about this video but a recent short in which you promoted you and your daughter wearing the same dress. I'm a teacher in the UK, so I've done a lot of training in child protection, and this includes online. I'm deeply concerned about images of your underage daughter being distributed online, as there are some very weird people out there, and I'm worried about possible unpleasant consequences to your daughter (e.g. a stalker hanging around her school) and your family. Of course at the end of the day she's your daughter and the decision is yours. I couldn't rest without flagging this, though.
