Never read the book so what was up if the car was possessed or demonic or evil or something

So in the book its more considered to be possessed by its original owner while in the movies its just stated that right out of the factory line the car is Just evil for whatever reason. In the movie the old man that is selling the car to Arnie is telling the back story of his brother Roland, he (Roland) is the one that posses the car in the book not the movie. if that makes sense. In the movie the car is just supernatural evil and just posses whoever owns the car.
