Congratulations to Christine Suders from Hermitage High School, the Henrico County Public Schools 2025 Teacher of the Year!
Christine is in her fourth year of teaching English at Hermitage, but she has more than 11 years of teaching experience overall.
In her Teacher of Year application, Christine shared her belief that “Outstanding teachers help students listen to their own calling, provide opportunities for students to engage in meaningful struggle, and work to build students’ self-efficacy. Outstanding instructors see their students beyond a test score or a stereotype: they look at them and see who they could become. They recognize that relationship building and rigorous instruction are not mutually exclusive, and it is their solemn duty and responsibility to provide each and every student with both.”
Christine consistently goes above and beyond to uphold that solemn duty. As a result, her students are not only mastering core content, but they are also learning to believe in themselves and have empathy for others.
This spring, we will celebrate the Teacher of the Year from each school at a banquet during Teacher Appreciation Week.
