It should be noted: Those gaming results aren't typical. There can be several contributing factors to those results: 1. Toms Hardware was using a less optimized and earlier version of Cyberpunk (before the benchmark was added) 2. There is a CP2077 LTT discovered where it did NOT apply the graphic setting presets, even through it said it did. A debloat will net between 5-10% performance uplift, UNLESS your CPU is the bottleneck leading to lower performance, which those numbers can get higher.

There is a huge flaw in your performance analysis against Tom's Hardware's numbers. The Tom's Hardware numbers are from Cyberpunk 2077's launch version (1.03) which came out back in December 10, 2020. Cyberpunk 2077 has seen a lot of bug fixes and performance optimizations since. Also, one other thing to note is that Cyberpunk 2077's launch version didn't have an in-game benchmark, this was added with the Patch 1.50 earlier this year, in February. Tom's Hardware might've used a different location which is likely more demanding than the benchmark scene CDPR has chosen. That too is another thing to consider. Edit: Looks like I was absolutely spot on about their choice of test location, to quote the Tom's Hardware article: Our test is simple: We start near the entrance to V's apartment complex, down on the ground floor. Then we walk down the stairs, cross the street to the left, cross the next street to the right, and head off toward Tom's Diner. Turn left in front of the diner, across another street and up the stairs, and past the two cops talking to some irritated civilians. "But when the Tygers come around, you ain't nowhere to be found!" (I may have walked this path too many times.) Furthermore, AMD"s drivers have matured, and if you use features like Resizable Bar, you can get even more performance out of the RX 5700 XT, especially when you're in CPU limited scenarios. The best way for you to gauge the improvements is to actually compare it against an absolute stock Windows 10 ISO, run the games and compare its numbers against the stripped-down Windows 10 installation you've created. That's the only way for the benchmark numbers to be meaningful. Love the work you're doing, looking forward to seeing where this all ends up.

Cyberpunk 2077 has always been buggy and inefficient. I was amazed when it first came out that everyone believed it was just "So good it pushes the bounds of your graphics card" ... when the reality is the game has garbage optimization. The trend in the industry has been, for decades, to write shittier and shittier code that runs like hot garbage and rely on hardware improvements to cover for the awful programming. Microsoft spearheaded this trend with Windows and now all the AAA gamers do it... they obviously won't fix the trend because people keep buying the hardware to play the "popular" games.

Someone mentioned a bug in C2077 that didn't apply settings correct even though it showed it did. Also those Tom's results I'm pretty sure were from an earlier version. Either way, I'd say it is not typical to see that kind of jump.
@Blissy11752 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisTitusTech The Cyberpunk 2077 bug that LTT experienced (along with nearly every other media outlet apparently) is that you need to change a setting after changing the preset to get an "apply" button to save your changed settings. LTT and a few other outlets only changed the preset and never took the second step to get an "apply" button to save their settings so their benchmarks were ran on the default stock settings. It should be noted, bold and underlined in flashing letters, that debloating windows usually affects its stability and future compatibility with updates. Windows is NOT modular. You cannot forcefully remove something from the OS and expect it to keep working perfectly forever. Only do this if you are not afraid of having ocasional bluescreens, app crashes, missing things, failed windows updates and etc. While this can be useful, do this at your own risk. Don't call Windows "unstable" if you try to always debloat it to the max. Still, great video for those who really want it (and understand the risks)!

My main question which I also hope you adress. How much maintenance does this take? The main issue with debloating in extremes is not that it's too hard but that usually some work is undone with simple updates which take priority for security. Also I find there's a little bit missing information on what exactly is getting debloated. Like personally I'd prefer keeping Windows Defender. I'm not an avg user...but not a educated power user. Hey Chris, thank you for all the things I learned through your content, love your videos 🙏 can I use your tool to deblote my W11? It isn't a clean install, that's why I'm asking
@ChrisTitusTech2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it won't get as low in the video, but will still make a big impact.

@13:41 false information, with beyond refresh rate fps your frametime becomes lower, meaning also smaller frame time variations -> smoother gameplay (your monitor is being fed with a newer frame). This is especially important for copetitive games, which very heavily overlaps with debloated builds. You start to debloating first when you're maxxed on the hardware site and require best gameplay consistency.

Good stuff Chris!!👍👍👍 One Question, will all of these changes hold up after multiple windows updates ?
@RadioactiveBlueberry2 жыл бұрын
Paradoxically, the changes include disabling windows updates

of course not, you should preferably not even use this system for regular browsing because it has no defender, smart screen or any protection.

FYI about that Windows XP talk in the end - I know this is over a year old video by now, but when Vista was new, I debloated it to around 20-30 processes. I also used XP 64bit and Vista 64bit and ran benchmarks on both OS's. Vista was actually faster than the debloated XP in 3D-benchmarks like 3Dmark 03 and 05 back in the days, and also booted faster due to the improvement under the hood. Mind you this was with Intel Core 2 equivalent hardware at the time and GPU probably like 6600GT is going close. Also later when Win7 was released, I dualboot tested Vista SP2 and Win7 SP1 both had identical boot speed, process count and memory usage numbers after tweaking them, so they were basically the same OS under the hood. So I'd say Win7 was also faster than XP in pure rendering performance due to using Windows Server codebase that XP didn't yet use.

It is time to make a serious Linux gaming video again. For the time being, I am not using Windows, at home and I have a Series X for the Microsoft specific gaming needs. Oh, and in this stripped version of Windows, does the XBox Store still work?
@jan_harald2 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure it's removed, like the normal MS Store, since most people find it to be useless crap but I would assume it should be easy enough to reinstall it, I think it's just a normal windows store app, anyway

Hey Chris. I noticed a technical issue with your website. When you switch on Dark Mode, hyperlinks become completely hidden in your Twitter highlight section and the links within normal content lose their coloring and no longer visually show as links.

the german autorities recently published a detailed analysis on windows "telemetry" features and on how to disable them. This culd be an interesting feature for your tool too ;-)
